How to have fun with coffee? I was just thinking these days about all the things I know about coffee, how much I like to drink it, how many ways there are to drink it and about how much fun I have dealing with producers, traders, cuppers and all the rest of the aficionados. I have said so many times before: milling is fun, toasting is fun, cupping is fun … but, are there other ways to have fun with coffee? So I thought about magic.
Now, what I did (as a truthful child of these times) was, I started Googling. I thought that there must be ways and things I do not know to have fun with coffee and the first thing I thought about were magic tricks. And wow … “coffee magic tricks” returned 106 million results! I love magic, so I really am going to check out some of those!
Coffee funny quotes – returned even more: 132 million results.
Morning coffee quotes – returned 129 million results.
Ok. Let’s try some others.
Sex and coffee – 548 million results
Humor and coffee – 145 million results.
Etcetera, you got my point I think.
Coffee is so embedded in our society that any kind of search will show up a lot of results. I wonder how that would work out on a Chinese or Indian search-machine. Let’s try that as well. Starting with China. This is nothing scientific and no way is it going to be representative, but for the moment let’s assume that BAIDU serves our purpose.
It only returned about 4 million results on “coffee magic tricks”. And yes, I know China is a tea country and Chinese coffee mainly comes from the Yunnan region, accounting for 98% of Chinese production, and that represents only a very small part of China. So if you can get your hands on some Yunnan coffee, you are sure to have a singular experience you can tell your friends about!
Now, let’s go to India. Oh, India, having at least a quarter of the world’s population (and a tea producing country)…. It follows google, bing, yahoo .. etc. No surprises there. And that actually is quite strange. Some of the southern states grow some of the finest coffees of the world. Unknown to quite a lot of people, some of the best coffees I have ever, ever, tasted are from the south of India!
Let’s take a random country. Two times I came up with the Netherlands, but for some reason we will let go of that one. The third time I came up with Oman. And what do you think? There is some Omani coffee as well! I never knew about that one. And now as I read about it, I am really anxious to try it.
“Fun with coffee” returned 1,600,000,000 results on Google. What could I ever say about that? I could never, ever check out all those results. But let’s take a look at some of them.
Naw, I will stick with “coffee and magic”, 541 million returns on Google. Check them out!

Funny thing... I don't drink coffee for more than month now... it's magic ;) I used to drink 2 cups everyday but I decided to take some break... just observe what will change... I can't see any changes... ok, maybe I'm saving more money ;)
I have same experience. :)
