ENG: Every year hundreds of Krakow residents gather at Krakus Mound in Krakow to welcome the sun on the longest day of the year. This year I appeared there for the second time, and the event itself was organized on June 21, the second longest day of the year (the longest was June 20).

I usually get around Krakow by bicycle, and this beautiful morning was no different. We went to the event with a group of friends. The route to the mound took us about 30 minutes, and just the experience of riding through dark and empty Krakow was very interesting. Along the way we met several cyclists and one runner.

ENG: When we arrived, we had less than 10 minutes until sunrise, so we seated ourselves below the mound, overlooking the rising sun. In addition to us, there were several hundred people on the mound and its surroundings; meanwhile, a short lecture was being given on the mound itself by one of Krakow's guides.

ENG: The sun began to rise after 4:31 a.m. and it took about 4 minutes for it to fully extend beyond the horizon. The whole event is something very simple, but at the same time amazing, when several hundred people come together in the same place for such a simple purpose as seeing the sunrise at an hour when on a normal day they would be asleep in their own beds wrapped in a quilt.

The event is organized by the association "Podgórze.pl", and this was its 22nd edition, I heartily recommend taking part in it. Who knows, maybe we will meet there next year?
