RE: The people's car. The former SSR of Azerbaijan

That bit about swapping the HT leads on the Anglia made me smiel :)
I once did the same on a friend's Maruti and spent an hour wondering why it coughed like a chain smoker.
The way you frame the Lada as a Fiat turned tank feel like engineering by necessity more than romance.
I liked your note about the one battery and let the engine handle the rest, their is a stubborn beauty in that simplicity and if you can fix it with a spanner and a hammer, my wallet is happy.

what does this do :) curious to know

Cheers @theindianguy thanks for dropping in, I appreciate your input and engagement , LOl, we all make mistakes and learn, love the coughing like a chain smoker VERY apt.
I guess the Maruti is very similar and easy to work on Love it

Ha, your right, that coughy idle still makes me grin :)
Marutis are defnitely in that same keep it simple club, you can fix half the gremlins with a sp;anner and a bit of patience.
That HT lead lesson means I carry a spare and some tape now, cheap fixes beat fancy diagnostics any day.

LOL, love your philosophy on car maintenance !!
