It is #beersaturday again and I have been off again scouring the region for new beers to share with the world!
Beer blogging came naturally to me due to years spent brewing for myself and restaurants, working with breweries on their technology & marketing, and the decades spent imbibing. Hence, the self-decreed title of the #Blockchain #Beerologist doing my best to consume, report and even brew to do that title justice.
This week, I am discovering beers with a common blue theme.
Pint of the Week
The pint of the week is usually a nice draft I have on the town, in a pub, or somewhere social. I met this blonde beauty at the golf & country club. They are a client and had an issue that needed onsite attention. The timing wasn't great at the end of the week but the primary internet connection is rather important to a newly opened course and popular restaurant heading into a long weekend.
My trusty tools and I saved the day, returned the internet to functional operation, and were rewarded with a nice pint of extra appreciation. Hop Valley Bubble Stash IPA https://hopvalleybrewing.ca/en-CA/beer sported a nice blue logo element and made for a fairytale ending after all.
Major Tom
Might as well start off big. Muskoka Brewery https://muskokabrewery.com/ have had solid IPA game since before most craft breweries were even open. Mad Tom, Twice as Mad Tom and all the other Toms were solid beers, always available and consistently good. Discovering yet another Tom, in a big blue king can (568ml) was a nice surprise!
Major Tom Hazy Double IPA https://shop.muskokabrewery.com/products/major-tom-juicy-double-ipa?variant=40086327525489 is a pretty ridiculous beer. Big enough to fill my big-ass hops glass, heavy and surprisingly sweet. It seemed just a bit too much of everything for the first few sips which is the recommended way to drink this one. It took me a while to get through it and I was eventually won over but it was not til I had the second can the night after that I came to appreciate it. Not your everyday beer but a nice big fat sweet treat for sure.
Side Launch Haze
A new label caught my eye because of the neat blue label and unfamiliar brand. The HAZY IPA down in the belly of the label compelled me to grab onto it and then look for the brewery. Side launchhttps://www.sidelaunchbrewing.com/? More new labeling? I gotta know!
I spent a long time scrolling in my archives to find the last Side Launch beer I had was back in October of 2019. IIRC, this was another label redesign and new session IPA to hopefully change my indifferent opinion of this brewery. Underwhelming beer wrapped in branding that just misses the mark somehow.
Side Launch Hazy IPA https://www.sidelaunchbrewing.com/collections/core-beers/products/down-under-double-ipa link needs to be edited but it is found in the core offering. The side real estate of the label says nothing about this particular beer and spends time pleading its brewery branding case as it has for too many years. All those years brewing have resulted in a good beer I think I should try again. Sometimes a solid beer gets lost in the shuffle or it might just be another okay beer. I have to be sure about these things so I will grab another soon.

Never seen those brands of beer, are there big differences in their taste?
To me there definitely is. The Cryo hops pint is draft beer (which I think has a texture and authenticity on its own over a can) and more processed hops for a pronounced bitterness. The side launch is a lot less of all of that and just a good beer. The Major Tom is like if you took both of those beers, blasted it with sweetness and dumped a shot of vodka in it for more of a decadent sipping beer you have to get used to.
To someone who like plain lawnmower beer and lagers, they would all taste like a mouth full of sugared pine cones. ;)

I get thirsty every time your #beersaturday post comes around. There is usually at least one beer that doesn't look like like I would like it, but not this time around. I think I could drink them all with a great deal of pleasure.
Haha work then reward! With cabling, I could probs my have a couple and be alright, as long as they at not those Major Tom big boy beers.
My eyes are so bad anymore without drinking that I couldn't tip shit now. They would be shit out of luck.

Of course the beerologist surprises us again at the weekend. By the way, my favorite beer is draft beer because it's fresh. And it goes perfectly with peanuts.
It definitely goes great with salty snacks of all sorts. Someone told me one time that draft beer is the worst and I believe them for a long while til I tasted it. While the ending of a keg and dirty lines may not be good, nothing better than a keg of fresh beer!
