I am a weekend guy as it is but #WeekendExperiences (founded by @galenkp,) #SublimeSunday (inspired by @c0ff33a) and #BeautifulSunday (initiated by @ace108) make it even better when you are a #hive blockchain guy.
This weekend, I hit the road for adventure, get back home for some community stuff, then enjoy a sublime father's day.
Last Weekend
The rain was upon us between sunny bits and spring was doing battle with summer daily. I stayed close to home and enjoyed what the small town out doors had to offer.
This weekend, I was on the road a little. I will need to save some stories for my overdue Weekly Zekely but one of them will be heading into the big city to watch my jiu jitsu training partner compete in a professional MMA fight. Great start to a big weekend but you will have to follow and tune in later this week for that story. Events are one of the things I miss about the big city.
The Big City
When I head back to the big city I lived in for a couple decades, it is pretty special. After the MMA event, we headed to the old music studio for a few hours of 5-mic karaoke. We party like it was 1999 and we are 30 years younger and, like 30 years ago, there are no smart phones to document the rock n roll debauchery. 5-mic karaoke is another thing I miss about the big city.
Before leaving town, I have to visit my favourite brewery for a peak in the bottle shop and a scooping of the latest IPAs. There are soe many limited run beers that don't get sold into the channels and are only available in limited supply in person. I will get into what I discovered in the next #beersaturday installment and I can't wait! Great Lakes Beer is yet another of the things I miss about the big city.
Back Home
After enough adventure to last the whole weekend on Friday night, I was jus getting started. I got my ass back to town in time to catch the afternoon festivities of the multicultural festival. An awesome crooner from India was on stage with everyone from the community invited to be a part. This building used to be an elementary school but has been kept public as a community center. Beautiful blue skies, food and music from around the world and a bouncy castle as the universal connection as kids of all origins love a good bouncy castle!
Next up, not half way through the weekend yet, it was time to do a little work. Work is such a harsh word to describe visiting one of the best patios in town to snap some social media pics. This beautiful old place repurposed as a chic, events, dining and al fresco experience is a great place to be and doesn't feel like work. I seriously intend to get back to telling marketing tales on the @town-crier business blog and have some stunning shots to share this week!
Inside, I enjoyed a pint of some local beer while rocking our #shoplocal flag, the www.shopstratford.ca do it yourself, one stop shop for promotion and supporting the local movement. Being a community champion never tasted so good!
Father's Day
I don't like a bunch of hype for Father's Day. Maybe a little more kindness and a shade of appreciation for all the damn sacrifices I make that nobody notices. Even better than that, family members working together to make me some strawberry jam after a visit to a strawberry farm maybe a mile away. That's a great fathers day gift if you ask me.
Another gift this weekend is sitting in my back yard, looking up at the sky. Mercifully few yard and house chores besides a quick lawn mowing and a little time with my feet up. I am definitely lucky the houses behind me were build to either side and I have this much wide open sky right outside my back door.
The weekend wouldn't be complete here without a trip to the dog park. The bountiful rain and persistent sunny periods sure have helped all the green pop nice and thick this spring. The soft grasses grow along side the path ways and brush your left as you walk in the forest with the dogs.
The sun has gone down on another weekend of adventure. The week ahead is threatening to be hot as hell and I have some catching up on #hive to do before a weekend of camping. Gonna be a wild summer and I hope you follow along.
Yes, it's 48°C here and very hot.
Oh boy. That is very hot! I remember those temperatures last time I visited Malta. It is up in the 30s here all this week for our first heat wave of the summer.
I'm sure the memories of being 30 came back when doing the karaoke.😁😁
Ya. I identify as a 30-year-old so it comes back pretty quickly. Often I identify as a 50 year old the next morning but it is worth it!
Well, it's good to go back from the days when where we have less worries .😊
You had an enjoyable father's day adventure, with some pleasant and fun experiences, making unforgettable memories in the process. It felt good reading through. Thanks for sharing. A great day to you.
In my country father's day is March de nineteenth.
It looks like you had a wonderful weekend full of adventure and family time bro. It's always special to create lasting memories like that. Happy Father's Day again hehehe !BEER
Definitely. Showing you care and some small special gesture is perfect.
