Meadow pipit at the Gravel Bar of the Danube River

'Today was a beautiful day with a lot of sunshine, but it was still pretty cold. Because I couldn't find any interesting birds at my forest I decided to visit the Gravel Bar of the Danube River near Linz for some bird photography. And It did pay off, I found this little meadow pipit jumping around in between the gravel looking for some food. I stayed there for several hours but in the late afternoon the light already started to disappear. This is also something I really hate about the winters that the days are so short.

This bird is resident year-round in Western Europe. However, even here, many birds move to the coast or lowlands in winter. So the gravel bar at the Danube river is probably a nice habitat for this bird even in winter. I managed to take several pictures of different birds today but the others I will show you in a future article of mine here on Hive. I was lying on the dirty gravel for several minutes and I hope I didn't catch a cold. We will see tomorrow about that.
