Art for a Cause 2020 | Transparency Report

in #art3 years ago

The Pledge

I made a birthday pledge on Twitter as a result of the devastation from the consecutive typhoons and super typhoons the Philippines experienced in the last month. In this pledge, the NFT artworks I would make in the two weeks after posting would be for supporting rehabilitation efforts for communities badly affected by the disasters.

Another recipient of the fundraising

I had to extend to three weeks because I got hooked into work obligations. The extension saw some unforeseen circumstances, and I decided to include a senior at work as recipient. To protect his privacy, the only things I would disclose for now are:

  1. he is diagnosed with lung cancer; and
  2. he underwent surgery (resection of part of his right lung) just last December 4th.

For more details, please don't hesitate to send me a message on Twitter or Instagram, and I'll try to divulge more information without giving away his personal details.

The Art for a Cause 2020 has concluded, and I think beautifully. 💙

The goal of this post is to report on the proceeds of the activity, and where they would go (went).

The Artworks for a Cause

I minted 6 artworks for this undertaking. Of these six artworks, five were bought. I'd like to use this section to thank the buyers who may or may not know they were purchasing digital paintings tokenized to raise funds.

Eve and Give You My Heart

On NFT Showroom:

Eve, inspired by half the pair of Adam and Eve, means to live, a concept I'd been initially hoping to make a series out of, but got too busy to see through. Give You My Heart talks about the act of giving even at the expense of oneself (or anything for that matter). Things will come back to you a hundredfold.

Someone now owns both NFTs. A huge thanks to @enn36 for buying both of these! 💙

In Silence and Insomnia

On NFT Showroom:

The In Silence was meant to express how I felt some sort of survivor guilt over the calamities that passed. Insomnia intends to show the frustration of not getting rest.

In Silence and 1/2 of Insomnia were purchased by @ethanchang. Many thanks, Ethan! 💙

Meanwhile, @bullauge is the other owner of Insomnia. Thank you so much! 💙

Over There

Over There is a revamped version of an older artwork. Minted on Rarible.com for 0.12 ETH, this work is still part of the Art for a Cause initiative.

Over There is all about knowing how to look back, but at the same time being aware of something beautiful ahead, over there.

yfiFan on Rarible purchased some of my artworks that include this particular painting, which is meant to be part of the donation drive. Thank you, yfiFan! 💙

The Hive Posts

I also posted blogs about these digital paintings, and decided that I would include earnings from them into the pool. The rewards are normally 50% HBD and 50% Hive Power, so I included them as 100% HBD converted to Hive equivalent.

Note: As majority of these posts haven't reached payout as of withdrawing, the rewards in HBD were reward values as of December 5, 11 AM Philippine Time.

These wouldn't be possible without the curators, curation guilds, and awesome Hiveans who knowingly or unknowingly supported the cause by upvoting. 💙 Thanks, too, to members of the OnChainArt community who have been extremely supportive of my art.

Special thanks to @arrliinn, @debilog, and @charlocked for the extra cheer in the background! And, of course, to @orianabeam for your thoughtfulness, especially from a few weeks prior. 💙

The Summary

Wow, that took longer than I expected. But finally, we're here. Here's a summary of funds raised in this drive.

SourceAmount
NFT Showroom NFTs840 Hive
Rarible NFT0.12 ETH (534.601 Hive)
Hive Posts14.16 HBD + 195.96 Hive

And here's how the funds, this time in Philippine Pesos, were distributed to different charities and cause. I also chipped in a few PHP to get it exactly to PHP 10,000.

TOTAL
PHP 10,800

The PHP 10,000 is more or less USD 200, which already means a lot. The extra PHP 800 were from my friends at work~ Thanks once again! 💙

Notes

I wrote quite a lot above, but really, it all boils down to me just saying (for the nth time in this writing alone)—

THANK YOU!

This sort-of-project means a lot to me. In April last 2018, I wished I could have more means to help, however minuscule it could be compared to giants of hearts out there. It thrills me to finally be able to find these extra means, and through my art, too!

Again, thanks for being part of this cause, albeit for less than pleasant circumstances. :)

For now, my heart is full. 💙

Until my next drawing!
