The last couple of weeks have had me torn between so many chores. I am doing some painting for an animated dokumentary, drawings for some design, I am helping my daughters with this and that, homework, drawing, music playing, food and much more, then there's of course my role playing club which do take some time and work (3d modelling, painting, writing), and then there's the Professor Otagburuagu book which I just finished yesterday.
So now I have a pdf for print... I am still waiting for the library service to send me a list of new ISBN numbers so I can finish the e-book also.
It has been fun but hectic to create the book. The illustraions of course are just run of the mill, but I do like to set up the text, make the colophon and title page etc. It is such a humble but important and beautiful process that demands care and attention to detail. Not at all like the hurricane of emotion and boastfulness that creating a drawing or painting involves.

I believe parenting whilst finding time to pursue anything that is detached from that role itself is us being gods in our own little way. Hopefully, the strength to be a father and an artist always finds your spirit.
Well, I hope the book will be, if nothing else, the beginning of something. The ideas, imaginary characters and dialogue of Ifeanyi is very promising, and if this book doesn't make it to something bigger it is at least a first step. The art of writing (as you well know) is a life long learning process, and every letter you write is taking you ahead on the stony road :) One day he might be read in many places. The talent and the sharp-wittedness is there, so maybe he can make it into the mainstream with time :)
My spirit of fatherhood never faltered, being an artist is another deal. Ups and downs are personal and not as adamantly an obligation. So the spirit will somehow always be less stable. There's more self pity, anger, self-realisation and doubt involved. But when you find the zone of pure creation where all the idiosyncrasy and vanity disappears the spirit will light up.
But you already know that of course :)
I'd love to read it... I think if the plot is as solid as the characters, it will be more than the beginning of something. Africa is warming up to her art and it would be awesome to have him among those who will soon go mainstream. I wish him all the best 🌟
I think we parent ourselves through parenting and that takes a lot of courage. This is what I tell myself when the downs are here and I am still expected to parent. I can only strike a balance when I can use my art as an outlet for what crops up when I sink into the complexity of raising my offspring :)
Sounds like you are busy in good ways. That time with the kids is precious. I look forward to reading the book.
Yes, I on top of things for the first time in a while :) And children truly are joy. I've seen studies that conclude that you will be happier without children, but I can't grasp the presumptions :) It is like comparing the calm, and stressless life of a hand grenade to the life of a nuclear bomb.
