The Bohemian waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus)

In mid-autumn, many birds begin to slowly fly into the cities from the forests. They do this because insects disappear in the forest, and birds switched to plant food quickly eat it. These beautiful large birds appear only with the onset of winter, when there is already snow. In the summer they are insects and their larvae; with the onset of autumn, their diet changes. They are forced to eat berries. Unlike, for example, bullfinches, they eat whole berries, along with pulp.
Often their large flock can be heard and seen in city yards, parks, gardens. They have only one single sound in their repertoire. In our country, and in other Slavic countries, they were nicknamed "sackbut" for these sounds.
These pictures were taken by me in the spring. They can still be found at this time in the forest, they eat up the remains of rowan berries and viburnum, and often sit on the tops of trees, relax and bask in the sun.

Love the look alike "slick hair" styles on those birds 😂

Супер. У этого свиристеля причёска как у модников "ирокез" .
