Twitter Hack Makes Legit Fundraising With Bitcoin Less Likely

The Twitter hacker used their admin access to post from the accounts of several politicians such as Joe Biden.

Once Joe got his account access back he tweeted this:

I don’t have Bitcoin, and I’ll never ask you to send me any.
But if you want to chip in to help make Donald Trump a one-term President, you can do that here.

Here Is The Problem

He can't now use Bitcoin as a method of fundraising even if he wanted to. Now this scam has occurred, normies will assume any future request to donate Bitcoin to his campaign is a scam, even if it's totally legit.

This isn't limited to Joe Biden. It spreads to all the other political candidates too.

Who is the biggest loser in this? The Bitcoin network, because it means one of it's potential use cases (frictionless crowd funding for politicians) doesn't get tapped.

Misdirected Attention

OK so people aren't going to use Bitcoin because it was used in this scam...

And how many people are going to stop using Twitter because it was used in this scam?

It looks to me as if all the celebrities that were affected by this have got their Twitter account access back and then carried on using it as if nothing happened.

@fioprotocol helps solve this. Charities can send FIO Requests directly for the exact amount and token/chain the person wants to donate. I’d love to do a live demo with you some time. Check out https://fioprotocol.io for more info.

Another great article. This scam is actually affecting Bitcoin in a positive manner. These politicians forgot about the crypto technology which could really benefit them and the blockchain as a whole. Thanks to this hacker, this raised more awareness that this untapped potential exists and is waiting to be used. Politians are not stupid and see how easy it is to gather money via crypto and even mentioning Monero will get them contemplating. Surely new laws will be created granting more freedom for crypto donations and exchange. I am happy to learn the current news from your account. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for balancing it out with a more positive point of view :)

That meme is golden. Good points, I would agree with @velinov86 in that it must do some good in reaching new people who would never normally have heard of it, but I'd say its still a net negative with the hurt its doing, and consolidating some peoples views that "crypto is a scam". I see there is another giveaway on youtube at the moment... its such a nuisance

When real crypto YouTubers who show their faces get banned and these blatant scams are left online and are even allowed to run ads, WTF?

"Good thing I don't use that Bitcoin technology. Looks really dangerous". exactly. great meme. thank you.
