Ulog #249: Goodbye @fitinfun

in #blog4 years ago

I'm not sure if the steemit/Hive community knows of the news yet but on Saturday noon, someone in our blogging community, Sharon @fitinfun, passed away in her sleep at Hospital Kuala Lumpur here in Malaysia. Her health wasn't in great condition as she was aging and things got worse the past 2-3 months. 3 weeks ago she called us and took our advice to get into a hospital. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and on Saturday noon she passed away in her sleep peacefully.

We got to know her and some of us like @iamjadeline and others in Team Malaysia as well as @mariannewest who have been helping her in various ways and have been supporting her as her friends while she was here in Malaysia.

I'm glad that I was a part of the final months months here on earth and had the chance to befriend and serve her in any way I was able to.

I remember her telling me that she was so happy that she met us and helped her moved to Malaysia. She said that she didn't think she would feel like she had a family again and she was happy that she did. We welcomed her into our church, our families, and cared got her the best we could. I'm glad that she enjoyed once again the presence of God and His great love that life somehow moved her away from for tens of years.

It was just less than a year of knowing her but she had become a part of our lives. Many people supported her and her livelihood as she relied only on STEEM at the time to support her which wasn't enough due to plummeting prices.

A lot of people often question us why are helping and sacrificing so much for her. I mean we're not millionaires or comfortably well to do families but I've learnt that whenever someone is in need, we do what we can to care and love.

Some may feel that they didn't do enough or didn't care enough but I wanna encourage you that you did your best in loving her and that she's better off where she in now, a place without pain or suffering.

As in her blog, you must remember how much she enjoyed Malaysian food and it was great to share our lives with her in such a simple thing as eating together.

We don't know when each of us will leave this place, but just like in Sharon's journey of life, sometimes we're only a part of their lives for awhile and I'm glad we made the most of our opportunity and got to know Sharon.

See you again Sharon in the glory realm. To infinity and beyond.

This is just so sad to read. I met Sharon at SteemFest 4. I had not seen her blog beforehand, but I remember that she was looking to exchange some STEEM for fiat to cover some of her expenses, and I just thought that was such a great thing to be a part of and a real example of the power of crypto for people to help each other, so I took her up on the offer immediately.

Over the next days we shared several brief conversations on varying topics. We talked about her weight loss journey, how she was living in Malaysia and relying on Steem as her main source of income. It seemed to me that even at her age, she had chosen to reject ordinary life in favour of adventure, and I admired that a lot. My life is richer for having known her, however briefly.

Now I find myself wishing I'd followed her blog a bit closer in the short time since, as I may have been able to offer some words of support or something. I know it's best not to think about those sorts of things, but I can't really help it. That is a really tough lesson to learn today.

Rest easy, Sharon.

SteemFest 4 was probably one of the reasons why her health deteriorated. Against our advise not to go as she had extremely limited spending, she still insisted and well, knowing Sharon for some time, she does whatever she wanted. And that to me was something special about her. How she lived her life the way she wanted. Even at such an age with not such a great health condition, she did what she wanted.

She always had the lots stories. Such a talker she was. I'm glad that I got to know some of her life stories from when she was younger and working in the military. Stories that she never shared on her blogs. It was nice, a privilege, to know the person behind the screen writing all these blogs.

She really was one of the kindest people I know on the blockchain. She really cared and was always willing to help out and give advice. I'm glad to hear that some of you were at least a little closer to her and I'm sure she enjoyed your company.

Let me know where I can best contact you for more info.

When it comes to STEEM and whatever that had to do with communities and what was happening, she definitely was knowledgeable and helped whenever someone asked for it. Blogging was basically what she did from morning till night.

Rest in peace

So good to hear that she was taken care of
She will be missed
May her soul rest in peace

Yes she was. Very well indeed. By the hospital and by the friends she met here. Now we've been looking into lots of things related to a foreigner passing away in Malaysia since we're the only ones that she knew and was close to.

So sorry to hear of this )':
I had a few brief exchanges with her in the comments section and she was really nice and supportive.

Wow, I’m sorry for the loss. But that’s great you guys got to love on her during the last year she spent here. So wonderful that she connected with God again. God bless you.

Yeah that was the best part of it all. 60+ years of life and we only knew her for a few months. God had been searching for her I suppose. She always enjoyed spending time in church whenever her health permitted her to come.

That’s wonderful. God brought her to you guys and the church, and you loved on her. Beautiful story.

This makes me so sad every time. :( i still can't believe.

Take care man. If it's any consolation, she was well taken care of even though she was far away from home. I suppose this was more of her home at the end of her life. She always told me of how she met an angel @iamjadeline here who took care of everything for an old lady from finding a house to rent to dealing with lots of daily necessities. Many more people supported and loved her while she was alive.

She's in a better place now. Free from pain and suffering. She even told the medical staff that if anything would to happen, do not try to CPR her or revive her back. Didn't need any of that though as she passed away peacefully in her sleep which is really wonderful.

She was well loved on this community. I have known her online for a really long time since TSU was up. And she have never been nothing but a fighter and an awesome human being. I am glad I had her in my life even if only online. She definitely helped a lot of times to become a better person just by being herself and sharing her stories and her life.

Thank you very much for sharing! Sharon was a a great friend. Cheers. Rest in peace @fitinfun.

You're welcome. We're always just trying to do what we can. #teammalaysia for the community.

OMG... I just found out this news...
I know well @fitinfun on steemit, I feel lost once...

Goodbye @fitinfun , good luck in nature there...

I had no clue about this. I met her on STEEM and had some great interactions and I have been following her for a long time. She was really a genuinely good person.
May She Rest in Peace!

Thank you for reblogging this! I had no idea as well! I remember seeing her posting and I interacted with her a bit. I particularly liked her fitnfunfood blog I think it was. How unfortunate it is to lose a member of the community!

It really was unfortunate to see her go. At least many of her writings will be here on HIVE (and STEEM) to see.
