The influence of France on the sword

in #busy6 years ago

Subsequently, under the influence of the French school of fencing, the sword became shorter.
Then the sword lost its blades, turning into a wedged blade, noticeably inferior to the length of the early swords.
The sword began to give way to the koncharu - a blade similar to a sword, the length of which allows the cavalryman to finish off the opponent who fell to the ground.

At the same time, in some countries, new swords, having lost in length, retained one, or even both, blades. In late swords, the blade (unlike the point) was not sharpened at all. The weight of the sword usually ranged from 1 to 1.5 kg (cavalry version).
