Double Trouble!

in #cooking4 years ago

This morning I go to make toast and cook some eggs, 2 eggs over-easy. I take 2 eggs from the carton and I do think they are a bit large, but Mr. gardenlady had bought the XL carton, so I didn't give it much more thought....until....

I cracked the first egg and this is what came out!

Two for the price of one! I"ve heard of a twin egg , but I have never cracked one open ever.

SO, I didn't really need to cook the second egg since I got 2 yolks, but well, I was a bit hungry, so I cracked the next one open too....AND.....

TWO doubles! IN the same carton! It blew my mind.

Breakfast was doubly fun this morning.

HOpe everyone has a doubly fun day as well!

Happy egg-cracking,

@gardenlady

I LOVE the double yolked eggs. Haven't seen one in a long time, but many years ago, my husbands father had a friend that raised chickens and had some that laid these frequently, so for a while, we had plenty !

What a fun surprise !

After I commented I saw this was from last year. LOL.... I still like it.

that's okay, i haven't actually posted much at all lately. just thought i'd come over to Hive since more time on my hands with the lockdown ;0)

Thanks for stopping by and voting for me. Really glad to see you around!

youre welcome. I have really lost my steem mojo..just on to tother stuff I guess. But I do like to come on and do drive-by upvotes of my faves ;0)

It's that time of year. If pullets were hatched in spring, they are just coming into laying. They lay lots of odd things, but double yolkers are common. I've had about 5 or more in the last 10 days. And they always weigh out above Xlg. This morning's was nearly 3 oz.

5 in 10 days? that's amazing!

Well, there's 18 pullets so.....

Lol, the very same happened to me just a month or two ago, I think if you get one it's rare to just get one!

sounds like friday night logic, but I'll take it!

They don’t seem to be as common as once upon a time.

I haven’t cracked one either but I remember my mother mentioned them more than once when I was a boy.
