@curie has supported you - You might want to consider a witness vote!

in #curie6 years ago (edited)

Have you ever had a vote from @curie? I haven't. However, I do know a bunch of people that have, and I'm calling you lot out today and asking you to support this long-standing project.

Today, @curie have made A call for delegation.

Recent problems with the witness servers have lost @curie some key votes and they are now out of the top 20 Steem witnesses. However, this issue has:

  • been admitted to and apologized for
  • provided an opportunity to improve process and robustness

And it is for these reasons that @curie will keep my witness vote.

In the post linked above, you can see just how many votes they have cast, who they vote for, and a host of other statistics which really do set them apart from other witnesses.

I am presenting today, and additional set of data, which I hope will:

  • not crash your browser
  • encourage some of you on the list below to cast a vote for @curie as witness

Vote for @curie here: https://steemit.com/~witnesses

If @ginabot has pinged you to this post, no need to scroll down - just click on the link above and show some support to the witness that has supported you.

A list of every account that has received at least 10 votes from @curie in the past 180 days that is NOT voting for @curie as a witness:

Thank you for your time

I think i've never recieved a Curie vote but a friend of mine got one a while ago and i believe what they do is truly helpful for the community, I'm giving them a vote! and i'll tell a few friends i have brought recently into steemit to vote for them too :-D

That's really good of you, thank you :D

I mobilized some friends that i dragged into steemit in support for curie and managed to get all their votes for curie :-D 4 votes, its something lol

4 extra votes for @curie - awesome! :D :D :D

the secrete is to just post more pics of cute dogs to get a vote ;-) - wait.. see the violence inherent in the system.. I'm being repressed LOL

I suspect you come from an Anarcho-Syndicalist commune, but i am Arthur Pendragon, King of the Britons, Defeater of the Saxons and Sovereign of all England!

well then - I bow before your throne. a million apologies. I didn't recognise You Your Highness.

Hi Asher. I read the comments and wanted to say hi before I head off to work. Wishing you a beautiful day. 🙂

I believe witness education is important. A lot of us don’t understand the roles of witnesses especially newbies. I congratulate them when they’ve been curied and most don’t understand why they should be happy. They don’t know why there are 300+ upvotes on their post when the post itself has only 30 views.

I do think many have to learn about curie before they will think of voting them as witness, and they would also have to learn about witnesses.

My vote for curie as a witness was cast when they showed support for the newbies out there. I’ve never received a curie upvote myself but that doesn’t stop me from seeing the community support.

That being said, I thought curie like to spread their upvotes around. I’ve seen many of the same authors receive their support. My impression was 2-3 times for a curie support but you have that they can show their support up to 10 times? I never knew that and would hope they support more new authors that don’t have the polish post look or professional photographs.

Hi there :)

Yes I made sure to link their post today which includes some good information on why to support them.

This link is good for an intro to Witnesses: https://steemit.com/witness-category/@someguy123/seriously-what-is-a-witness-why-should-i-care-how-do-i-become-one-answer

Perhaps both the post earlier today and this one could have included more background information on why people should vote for witnesses at all - The information is out there, just hard to locate - a bit like the quality content that curie spend so much time finding and supporting.

Have yourself a wonderful day!

I read the same post a while back. 🙂 You should know anything written after 24 hrs is dated in Steemit time! Have a great day!

it's not that those multiple curie upvotes are all "full"-curies ;) You maybe get 2-3 big ones, but I often see a smaller curie upvote pop up somewhere.

Thanks for the comment @r00sj3. We run into each other again. :) I didn't make a comment to you since I saw many already had.

I did notice many receiving those multiple curie upvotes are community support. Their curie upvote worth is small in the 0.30% - 7% range so so. The community support could be from a trail or to show support to budding talents. I have seem some authors receiving 2-3 big curie support.

By all means, I am not a curie sherlock holmes! :) I'm just trying to understand to whom they show their support because I have seen their support both to new and veteran users. I have seen a one time support to one author and multiple times to the same author. I have seen their support to polished posts with quality photographs to supporting a few thrown in here and there that are not as polished.

Full disclosure, I did throw my hat to being a prospective curator with Curie. I did so because I've seen so many authors highlighted on our @newbieresteemday account receiving curie upvotes, and I figured, hey, might as well see if I can become a curator with them so I can share the finders fee with the @newbieresteemday account and help grow it (our goal there is to help support newbies with a reputation level below 45). My chances of being one is slim, but a gals gotta try! ;)

If you don't try, it won't happen anyway. I love what you try to do, so I'm sure it will work out :) Good luck!!
I think the biggest challenge remains to be found by curators. If no curator follows you and you don't interact much, it will be hard to get noticed since you will absolutely disappear in the pile of nonsense that is being steemed. I suspect they prefer new authors but remain supporting the struggling more veteran authors a bit along the way. All I noticed was that every time I was about to throw my hat in, a small curie showed up. And I am happy they do that. Someone is looking after us ;)

I agree @r00sj3. Support in all ways are appreciated. That's why my witness vote goes out to many witnesses that support communities because who else will keep steemians on here? Our #newbieresteemday community support newbies with what little $0.05 to $0.20 cents we can on the @newbieresteemday account, and I never hesitate to reach out to a curator from Curie when I see a potential post. I might not receive the finders fee but that doesn't stop me or my Newbie Resteem team from helping others. We've seen 12+ newbie authors we highlighted as they started off as newbies received 1-3 curie upvotes in their journey here. Many appreciate seeing their work recognized. As to why they do/do not support Curie as a witness, that is a personal decision.

I see the support Curie give to the community and am happy they do what they do too! Thanks for the best wishes. :)

@abh12345 I will follow you blindly on this one. It they are worth your support, they are worth my support.
Never had an upvote from them though! But it is not about me, but about the platform!
Any idea who hr1 is? Getting some upvotes from this account, but don't know what or whom it is!

I always wondered who hr1 was too @fullcoverbetting. I used to get upvotes from them but I don't anymore. 😢

There are a solid project and clearly to me, one of the better witnesses to support - which is why I am promoting them ahead of my own witness! :D

hr1 is a kind whale account, I do not know who they are but I see their vote goes far and wide!

I didn't realise hr1 was a witness! Thanks for the heads up.

I'm not sure there are - curie are, and my witness is @steemcommunity. I would love to be able to do what hr1 is doing!

I've now added you (@steemcommunity that is) to my witness vote. I'd certainly support hr1 too if he was a witness. I'd also love to be able to do what he's doing! They may not be huge votes, but when you're small they're substantial enough to encourage you to keep going.
How would you find a full list of witnesses outside the top 50, do you know?

Thank you!

Sorry I didn't get back to you in time, you may have found: https://steemian.info/witnesses

Scratch that! I found hr1 at 217 on the witness list. It was a bit long winded though...

oh nice! I'll have to look into it a bit more but I think he should be looked at for a vote, thanks for the info!

Whoever they are, they must be on auto-pilot. I just discovered you can see voting activity by going to https://joticajulian.github.io/steem-activity/index.html and plugging in usernames. hr1 votes all over the place AND round the clock. How to get on the auto list is the trick. I've done it, too, but I'm not sure for what, and there's a wide range of material being upvoted from what I can tell.

Nice sniffing Glenan! Thx for sharing the link!
To be honest I am a little surprised by the short comment. I am not used to that from you! Don’t tell me that you are running out of words!
Just kidding.

No need to write a book where a short paragraph will do. :)

While I'll admit to running out of the spoken word, I don't tend to run out of the written word. However, pacing is also important. So, where it merits the longer answer, I'll go for that, and where it merits the slightly shorter answer, I'll do that. :)

You have to go to bed @glenalbrethsen! I am awake, so you should be a sleep! Otherwise we will never get a chance!
But it a true, sometimes a long reply is needed while in other situations a shorter reply is more appropiate!

Ahaha, wow. Gotta catch 'em all. :D

Curie is the best! They are amazing to get Curied a lot! Wow, I wish I get Curied that often. Haha.

There are a few thousand left with 1 and 2 votes - Steemit.com would not let me post anything close to the complete list and so i've had to resort to adding them in the comments.

I'll save the 1's and 2's and see if others think it would be wise, I can hear ginabot getting mighty upset!

hahahaaa.

If course we will support @curie, you helped us and the least we can do is to support you in your time of need.

Thank you @classical-radio for your support of the @curie project - They will be grateful for your support I am sure.

Good initiative ;) thank for pointing out people not supporting projects they benefit from.

Althouth even idées they do. They still have the right to vote for the witnesses they want ;)

Thank you!

Some disagree and so i'm thankful for your comments.

Of course, people are completely free to choose who they vote for :)

I agree with you, people should be gratefull for what they received :)

But they also have the liberty to prefer 30 other projects. Which is ok for someone that didn't received a lot espeacially. Although more you benefits from it, more you should feel morally inclined to give back especially when they ask for help.

I'm on the otherside, I voted for @curie as a witness while I never recieved anything ;)

You made me join the discost channel. Will try to get noticed in the #self-promotion channel, although, I write in the french community so I'm not sure they will all consider it as quality content if they can't understand it ;)

I'm on the other side, I voted for @curie as a witness while I never received anything ;)

Same :D

I am not sure they will vote posts not written in English, or at least half English / half French - those I believe go down quite nicely...

Some people may not be fully informed on witness voting or now how to do it.

I have never had a vote from currie either.
The best way to support the community now, is to use your own power wisely to grow yourself, downvote scammers and spammers, and affect the witness list as much as you can.

edit:
And I forgot to mention to grow yourself while fighting spammers by competing against them in vote bidding.

So you think that because the curie account chose to vote for some of our posts they have bought the right to our witness votes? You are endorsing a form of bribery?

I thought the curie project was intended to support quality content on the blockchain that was going unrecognized, not to bribe people to vote for their witness.

I wonder what the core of @curie thinks of your attitude.

I will repeat the comment given to the above:

The @curie upvote DOES NOT come with a price.

I am not part of @curie's witness, I just think it's a great project that has supported so many.

And so for the 1% who think this is 'shameless' or a 'bribe', i'm willing to take that hit for highlighting their need for support while bid-bots and shit content rules the roost.

Thank you for being honest.

Well, if I'm being honest, I think making a single post with this many user tags is pure spam, not just in poor taste. You could have made an impassioned plea for people to support curie for witness--without tagging a single person, instead of implying that curie had a right to our votes because they voted some of our content.

I think you are way out of line here and I sure hope Curie thinks so also!

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, and I respect your willingness to give it.

I humbly disagree that I 'implied that curie had a right to our votes'.

"@curie has supported you - Now it is your turn!" I think, personally, that the entire Title is more than just an implication. By inferring this attitude, you attempt to make people feel bad about how they are utilizing the system. I think that's the shame-ful part of it. Bex is right in implying that you can do this in a better way.

I have changed the title of the post in the hope that it reduces any implication / shame.

There is always a better way to do say and do things, and I, like many will continue to live and learn this along the way.

Thanks for your comments.

Much better title! :)

It is still unethical, not just to me but I'm certain to others on this list, to be publicly shamed like this and having their hand forced by making this list of users. Especially to new member of Steem that may not know what's going on. If you really want to support Curie, write about why you think they should get more witness votes, not pressure users into making the vote.

I share @anikekirsten's sentiments here, especially about the blind witness voting. You could have simply left off "who have NOT voted for @curie" on your list to at least take the accusatory edge off. Surely there are other methods to appeal to the folks on the list.

Yeah, I'm one of those who hasn't done any witness voting, because I don't understand the concept and I'm not informed on all the people doing it. Being publically shamed as an ungrateful slacker isn't a very good persuasion tactic.

Oh no! I hate that people read this and took it as an attack. I believe that the idea was to bring the matter to peoples attention that don't know about voting for witnesses. Not to call them free loaders.

Voting is a very important aspect of being on Steemit and should never be done blindly...I have only used maybe 17 of my 30 votes and have looked into every single one.

I believe this post was intended to point out that a witness that supports a lot of individuals in this community (even if it is done silently), needs our help...our that support may not exist anymore. So to look into them and see if they are someone you would like to support.

Curie is all about the community and I truly believe @abh12345 was trying to bring attention to them in their time of need. Not to single anyone out or force someone's hand.

If anyone has questions about witnesses, DM me...I'm a nobody but I will help anyone I can.

For the record curie is not asking individuals to vote for them because they had their post upvoted...to punish a wonderful organization over a misunderstanding would be a true shame...I hope you all would agree.

I have no objection to the purpose or the good intention behind the post and I don't believe either I or the poster I quoted said anything about punishing @curie. My issue is that barging into a room with a gun drawn as you announce your message is guaranteed to put the people in it on the defensive, and the message inevitably comes off as a demand rather than the intended "encouragement". I wouldn't have even minded having my name tagged if it wasn't in a post declaring "I'm calling you lot out". That's unnecessarily aggressive wording for a "first offense" type post and so my initial reaction was "WTF is this?" rather than "oh wow I'm so glad he brought this up."

With all that said, next time I get on the computer I'll happily look into helping @curie out, because I'm not the type to hold grudges. I'm simply pointing out that a more diplomatic approach may be a better idea to avoid alienating folks. Save the guns for later rather than leading off with them, you know?

@abh12345 does get props from me for taking the assorted feedback gracefully 😉 I'm impressed.

I totally get what you are saying and agree...the punishing curie was not directed at you or the comment above, but someone else further down...I should have made two comments, I apologize! Scrolling down this page is just too much work 😂

Good point. Thank-you for sharing. I a trying to learn to live and communicate non-violently. Your point brings to my attention the violence within it. So much to learn here.

Thanks.

I've read all the remarks, including the 'son of a bitch' and 'asshole' comments. And actually, so has my Mother.

I'm glad to hear that you, and others will take a look into curie and witnesses in the future.

Thank you.

I'm saddened that people feel this post was an 'attack' or 'a shaming', it really was not the intention.

I'm glad to have your support and understanding today, thanks again.

what she said :)

Seeing the comments, the evidence of this pressuring is apparent. Informed witness votes are encouraged. What about the users who still don't fully understand what witnesses do and why their votes matter? You've advocated for blind witness voting. And, I'd argue, probably negatively affected Curie's name on Steem.

At the head of the post, is the link to @curie's plee.

With this information you should be able to make an informed assessment of if the project is worth your vote.

Thank you for your comments.

I already know how to, I'm speaking for those who might not. Appealing to "considering the Other." I voted Curie's witness as soon as the witness was up about. You could have led with info to help people toward making informed decisions and leave out the tag-spamming and shaming.

I could have left the tags out, but then curie would not have had 30+ additional witness votes yesterday.

Some people feel shamed, others are thankful to be made aware.

Was my post ever going to please everyone? No

Did it produce a positive response as far as votes and delegations to curie. Yes.

I'll take the 'son of a bitch' and 'asshole' comments for the team if it means more support for a witness that has helped and supported so many.

First of all, to me and many others, this post is nothing but a bunch of spam and a "poor me I never got a curie vote." Are you hoping that by publicly calling out every single person who's received curie votes and never voted for their witness, that you might get some curie attention on your own work? That's a really poor way to go about it. The best way to get curie votes is to write exceptional, quality content! Public shaming is not going to get it done.

And another thing, until I proxied my votes, I WAS voting for the curie witness. I can't help if my proxy doesn't vote for curie, and I'm not going to force them to. How DARE you call me out like that when you know NOTHING about the people on these lists. Voting for witnesses is a CHOICE, and people shouldn't be guilted and shamed into voting for a witness. That is unethical.

Hi there,

To your first point, I am 100% sure that trying to garner curie attention wasn't Asher's intention at all. With his consistent level of reward from his other followers, he has no need for a curie upvote and is way beyond the "new / unrewarded" level of a poster that curie looks out for. Basically, he'd never get a curie in a month of Sundays :)

Its good to know that you were voting for curie as a witness prior to proxying your vote. If possible, I would be interested in knowing which proxy you are using to cast your votes just to see what they are voting for. If you don't want to divulge that information, then that is fair enough, I'm just interested to know which proxies people are using.

Many thanks

Mark

To be clear, this is @abh12345 making this post and not @curie. Curie does not now, nor ever will, ask authors for anything in return for the upvotes. You should of course make your own determination on who to vote for, and I would certainly hope in any case that you wouldn't vote for someone just because another user told you to. Cheers

I'm quite aware of that. My comments were directed towards @abh12345, not @curie.

Are you hoping that by publicly calling out every single person who's received curie votes and never voted for their witness, that you might get some curie attention on your own work?

As Mark has stated, this was absolutely not my intention. Neither was it my intention for anyone to feel 'shamed' or 'forced' into voting having received a @curie vote in the past 6 months.

With @ginabot, there is a new method to bring a set of users to information that may concern them.

As a user who holds this blockchain close to his heart, delegates a large chunk of Steem Power out to newer users for free, does not vote for himself, and tries to interact and respond to as many comments as possible, my sole intention was to bring awareness for @curie's dire need for support in these difficult times.

I have been called a 'son of a bitch today' and more, but I'm willing to be the fall guy for a day if it means eyes are focused on the @curie project, which I believe has been one of the best additions to the platform over the past 18 months.

Thanks for your time.

While I understand your desire to help the curie project, I believe there is a better way to do it. The way you've done it makes people feel like they HAVE to vote for curie based on the fact that they've received a curie vote. It's no different than a parent throwing a guilt-trip on their child to get said child to do something they don't want to do.

Calling people out publicly like you did is a form of punishment or chastisement. What if many of the people you tagged simply don't understand anything about witness voting, or don't even know it's a thing? You've basically slapped them on the hand for something they didn't even know about. What about those who made an informed choice to not vote for curie? You've shamed them for thinking for themselves.

While I would like to believe that shaming people and making them feel forced into voting wasn't your intention, this is how it came across. What's your course of action now, then? Are you gonna just say "sorry, my bad, deal with it"? Or will you change your approach so that you don't come across as an asshole?

For what it's worth, I was one of the folks on this list and appreciated being informed in this way. I didn't realize curie was a witness, and I had witness votes to spare. If I can help an account that I believe helps the platform, and it's no sweat off my back, I'm happy to do it! I can see how the post might come across as annoying and rude to some, but it comes across in other ways as well. Just another example of the wide variety of perspectives on steemit.

I totally agree to @uniwhisp!
And even if one does not like what @abh12345 has written, there would also be better ways for the criticism that is practiced here! No?
Calm down, nothing really happened!!

This is how it came across to you, and a few others. The majority of the comments on this post are supportive.

However, what cannot be confused is you stating that i have 'come across as an asshole'.

What's your course of action now, then?

Add you to my ignore list, along with the other person who called me 'a son of a bitch'.

These comments are disgraceful and are genuine reasons to be ashamed.

I have seen several comments about him shaming people. That is not what he is doing. He is simply asking people to think about supporting a person that has supported them. What he has done is shown people that he supports @curie. That he thinks they are a good witness. There are several people who on there blog resteem or blog about the witnesses they support. He has not asked anyone to Blindly follow anyone. He has provided the links to for individuals to make there own choice. I have proxied my witness vote to Asher, you have proxied your vote to someone. I proxied because I did not have the time or energy to search for 30 witnesses, I got up to I think 17, before proxying my vote.

Voting for witnesses is a CHOICE, and people shouldn't be guilted and shamed into voting for a witness. That is unethical.

He has not shamed anyone, he has sent out a request, "a request" for those individuals on the list to consider voting for @curie. There is absolutely nothing unethical about what he has done. It is not unethical to ask people to think about something. He has done each and everyone on that list a huge service. he has Let all of us know, here are the people that have been curried, and everyone knows that to be curried knows that person has some QUALITY content to look through. If you think his asking you to change your mind or to investigate @curie as a witness, while showing me a shit load of quality content providers is unethical.....I just don't know what else to say.

Kinda shameless to force our hand this way, don't you think? I didn't vote for any witness and maybe because I still don't know what that is all about. I never knew the curie upvote came with a price. Don't be this way, this behavior is everything against the idea that I'd have of a witness.... (for what that idea is worth, not knowing anything about it)
Don't get me wrong... I love what curie is doing for the little people. But this should grow naturally... You want voters that are naturally inclined to vote and not shamed into voting... my 2 cents..

Price? Every user gets 30 votes to allocate to witnesses .. and they don't cost you a thing. Witnesses are crucial to keeping steemit up and running as they process the blockchain... and we desperately need more active witnesses in the top 20 like @curie. I would also point out that currently it costs a witness ~$440 per month to run a witness server.

If you care about steemit and want it to continue then I highly recommend you read up on witnesses, what they do, who they are etc etc and cast some votes. To few steemit users vote on witnesses.. and without active witnesses the blockchain wont get processed and steemit will stop functioning and then this party is over.

I know I haven't explained it very well but I highly recommend you find out more about witnesses and vote on the ones that really care and contribute to the community. Here are some posts that explain what a witness is quite well:

https://steemit.com/witness-category/@someguy123/seriously-what-is-a-witness-why-should-i-care-how-do-i-become-one-answer

https://steemit.com/steem/@steemitguide/steemitguide-what-is-a-exactly-is-a-steem-witness-and-why-every-user-should-vote

I hope this helps provide you with some greater understanding of why witnesses are so important to be voted for.. That being said, don't feel compelled to vote for @curie .. do some investigating and choose the witnesses that you feel would do the best job and vote for them, just don't let your votes go unused! :)

@fiftysixnorth while I completely agree with you in regards to the good that @curie does, I do think the objection here is the abusive manner that this author has employed to call upon those who have benefited from @curie's work to vote for their witness. And I agree with that sentiment very much.

While I would support anyone voting @curie for witness. I will not be supporting @steemitcommunity's witness because of this distasteful behaviour. I take that stand with considerable reluctance as I would like to support @paulag

I'm sorry you feel the post to be 'abusive' and 'distasteful', thank you for your comments.

I get that, though personally I don't think @curie should be punished for that. I was more responding to the fact that @r00sj3 said she hasn't voted for any witnesses yet or understands what its about. I found it a good opportunity to inform on what witnesses do :)

I wouldn't dare to presume to tell anyone who they should vote for.

I think I made it pretty clear, I wont withdraw my support of curie over this author's ill-conceived post. I will of his witness though even though it means not supporting someone I would dearly love to support.

Thank you, that helps a lot! Spending a lot of time on "good content" doesn't leave me much time to investigate the fundamentals it is built on. This made it much easier! I will look into it!

I know what you mean, it took me quite some time before I actually looked into it myself, but then I discovered that it is quite important. I hope these links helps :)

Thank you @fiftysixnorth. I also did not understand witnesses... I will be digging in, learning and participating now.

@abh12345 thank you for getting my attention on this witness topic.

No problem, its a topic well worth getting familiar with.

Thank you for your comments and the links provided.

my pleasure!

To be clear, this is @abh12345 making this post and not @curie. Curie does not now, nor ever will, ask authors for anything in return for the upvotes. You should of course make your own determination on who to vote for, and I would certainly hope in any case that you wouldn't vote for someone just because another user told you to. Cheers

Thanks for clarifying that! :)

thank you @carlgnash for making it clear that this tag spamming post is not sanctioned by Curie... the only thing this post deserves is being flagged into oblivion. This is disgusting

I hope someone larger flags the heck out of this for the tag spam as well as the bribery attitude. It reflects poorly on curie as a project and certainly undermines everything the project was supposed to stand for. With the line at the end, it seems like he is trying to sell his own project on curie's reputation as well.

https://steemit.com/faq.html#What_is_considered_spam_or_abuse

Do you think my post falls into one of these categories?

Now check your most recent resteem and check the list again.

While I ask for support, there are no ramifications if this doesn't happen. In other words, you do not need to upvote/resteem/comment/follow myself or curie for anything in return.

However, asking for resteems/votes to gain entry into a competition is 'spam or abuse'.

Thank you for drawing my attention to this, I will make my way over to your resteem to inform them, or shall i just 'hope someone larger flags the heck out of this'.

That's a loaded swagbag he got there! 💰

I'm still waiting for a reply here from this Danish lady, not holding my breath though.

Being able to vote for witnesses imo is fundamentally important aspect of community. Especially one that functions sustainably. It is up to individuals to get involved at this level. @beeyou has started an awesome initiative to help everyone understand and get involved with witnesses link

Personally, i see this content as valid information. Very much worthy of contemplation and consideration. No shaming here. Your life! Your choice. If you have been an @curie vote recipiant, congratulations!

Wishing all the best to you 🌸🌹🌸🌹

Maybe people aren't here for the overall community, but just to blog some content and enjoy their own mini community? They might not think about politics and not read the whitepaper. It is a sign that Steemit is growing as a platform beyond the early adaptors.

Therein lies the pickle!

My English isn't good enough to get what you exactly mean here ;) Is it a bad thing that people are not here for the community?

This is a good question @r00sj3! It is always your choice. But, i think beeyou probably answers that in her post better that i will. Though, if not for the steem platform there will be no community. So then, i feel personally to have our communities with the larger whole it is my due diligence to choose witnesses that can run the platform well. And, to me that makes me care who's on this list! If you like @curie votes they also are now in a tricky spot because they need delegations to do their usual voting. They've lost their place, as i understand, in ranks. Personally, i think it is an issue that there are so many steemians that have not taken time to vote for witnesses. But,learning and choosing witnesses does come with responsibility. Best to discuss it with other steemians you know and trust.

"It is your choice. But...." -> You know what they say about that, right?
For now, I'll leave it to the people that know better what is going on... I'd like to pick mine, but I just know too little atm. And to be honest, I have other things that need my attention more than a community that will continue without me anyway. That doesn't mean I don't care... it is just that timing isn't right.
When I make my pick, I want to be comfortable with my choice. I really appreciate what curie is doing, but there might be less "famous" witnesses that deserve a vote too. I don't know if there are witnesses focussing on the technical side of everything...That is how little I know. But that would be something I'd like to figure out before I make my pick.
I just don't like the pressure of "participating" in the community. Each to their own... Like mentioned multiple times before by others, people have their own reasons to behave&participate the way they do on steemit. Being dragged into this witness discussion just because my content gets rewarded and I haven't picked my witness yet wasn't what I was ready for. Good that you are so passionate about the platform and witnesses yourself... Just don't tell me that I should too, I become recalcitrant in that case.

Hi @yogajill. I appreciate your mention here. The few that do visit my blog are the friends I’ve made on here and I appreciate my new friend sharing my post link. ❤️

I completely agree with you. Everyone is welcomed to make their own witness decision. We should also understand the roles of a witness if we want this platform to succeed and only way we can do so together is to take the steps to learn about witnesses.

I am happy for everyone that received a curie upvote because their quality post deserved it. They shouldn’t feel that they have to vote for curie as a witness but I would hope many would pay it forward. Support the people that once supported you or perhaps mentor or support newbies on here. There are plenty of ways to pay it forward and perhaps many on the list are already doing so in their own way.

Please note to anyone reading: I have never received a curie upvote. In fact, @beeyou is a team account and excluded from curie support. That doesn’t mean I don’t see the support they give to the community so they have my small SP witness vote.

Yes you are perfectly entitled to say so, and I expect more comments like this.

The @curie upvote DOES NOT come with a price.

I am not part of @curie's witness, I just think it's a great project that has supported so many.

And so for the 1% who think this is 'shameless', i'm willing to take that hit for highlighting their need for support while bid-bots and shit content rules the roost.

Thank you for being honest.

I get that you want to generate traffic and that that is the reason of putting all the names there.
But I think you could have done that by not making any difference between people that did and did NOT vote for curie as a witness. Like I said... I still don't know enough about steemit to know the impact of my vote for a certain witness (I might have lived under a rock ;)). I agree that ** content rules steemit atm, but why not make that vision part of your campaign!?

The people that have voted already do not need to notified that @curie needs help.

I suggest you do spend a little time researching into what the witnesses do for the blockchain - they are the reason for its continued existence, for one.

@curie are a team dedicated to surfacing exceptional content, you are one of the people who have provided this content in the past. If they are to continue doing this, they need help.

Again, apologies if you think my approach was not the best method, I am only trying to do what I think is best for the future of this platform.

Wow! I am blown away by this list! All those @curie votes yet these folks don't vote them as witness! Goodness. I noticed your generous delegation to them that's real good of you Asher!! Keep up the great community involvement. No curie vote for me either but my posts are pretty basic at this point.

Good luck on receiving your 1st @curie vote friend!

I think what this post highlights is the vastness of folks not taking interest in the fundamentals of the platform. I think the mentality is that 'it will take care of itself' or 'someone else will do it and i trust that'. Complicated! From very early on i also learned of the good support of @curie to the community. That intention speaks to me too.

Credit to you for taking the time to look into what witnesses do, and @curie in particular - I'm glad you have seen that their work is positive to the community.

Cudos to you for generating engaging conversations. I hope you're able to feel the love & relax. To feel clear 💗 might be a good time to get yourself into a yoga class!! Namaste friend. Good Good ⬆️⬆️ 🙏🌸🌹💗

:)

Well people are of course free to vote for who they wish. I have long seen @curie as a positive addition to the platform and feel they should be supported.

Just to clarify to others reading this, the post was not written with an intention of receiving a vote from @curie, now or in the future.

Thanks for your comments :)

If even they are not in the list but received a curie vote before and remember that feeling of being awesome then they should know what kind of impact Curie gives to the community.

Ask not what Curie can do for you but ask what you can do for Curie!

Time to put your money(SP) where your mouth is!

Thanks for your support Mav!

I need it today haha!

@abh12345, dammit! I thought that I voted for @curie... Well, problem solved. Now I voted!

@curie will be very thankful of your support, nice one! :D

They already have my witness vote. It’s a shame they lost support even more so when they fully admitted to having an issue and how they expect to avoid running into it in the future. We live in such a crazy world where everyone expects perfection. Yet, humans are not perfect and computers are often just as guilty.

I have been blessed twice by receiving their vote in the past. It is groups like them why I don’t mind on occasion spending a couple of days into creating a blog post. They encourage people by up voting high quality to want create high quality and engage with comments on their own blog. That is something very few places on Steemit have that ability to do. Far too many these days seem focused on quantity over quality.

Great :)

And yes, a real shame for them to be knocked out of the 20 - I hope they can make those places up again.

Thanks for your support.

you are missing out that a number of these accounts are voting thru proxies which are voting on @curie

You are quite right, I apologise for anyone called to the post who is voting for @curie via proxy.

I have voted for him now
He's a really wonderful person
التقاط.PNG

Thank you!

And I apologize if you in any way felt 'shamed' into voting - This was just a call for help for what I feel is a very worthwhile project :)

people are curied because they produce quality content -- not to solicit witness votes.

As I read through this, my thoughts were this SOB wants to name and shame those who wrote good content for not choosing to vote for curie for whatever reason.. not only will I not vote for Curie .. I wont bloody vote for him either.

I see in the comments that @carlgnash has made it clear that you wrote this post without any sanctioning of it from @curie ... so, I'm sorry @paulag but your partner has blown any chance of my vote and possibly others as I share this with them. This is just so wrong.

people are curied because they produce quality content -- not to solicit witness votes.

Of course.

I am a user of this blockchain, just like you. I make my judgement of what I see as right, and voting for curie as a witness is something i support.

What I will never support is anyone calling someone a 'son of a bitch'. And while I have done my utmost to respond to people in an calm and understanding manner, you don't deserve that at all.

My partner is behind me 100% on supporting @curie, and the 30+ additional witness votes added following my post today are a testament to what this post was written to do - bring awareness to an awesome but struggling witness.

You need not support me, my witness, or anything I do or say on this blockchain with remarks like that, and should be ashamed of yourself.

well if you had bothered to fully read the comment ... i stated they were my thoughts as I read the post ... believe it or not .. i'm entitled to my thoughts. Shocking eh... I'm even entitled to share my thoughts.

Had I actually called you a SOB .. I wouldn't have used the acronym so climb down off your self-righteous soapbox. Had I actually called you a SOB... well there would have been some more more explicit language to go along with. Anyone who actually gets me angry enough to move from thinking to calling , never gets away with just SOB.

Thank you for reinforcing my belief you don't deserve my witness vote.

You named and shamed people into voting... that is not cool at all. They may have voted without your scummy tactics and with some educating people on what witnesses are and why it is important to vote for them... and then explaining who curie is. Not the tag spamming you did.

'I called you a SOB not a SOB'

This nonsensical garbage makes me wonder how you ever achieved a curie vote at all, but does give some clues as to why after 9 months here you are at reputation 50.

if curie is meant to spread the vote around and find new content i believe they have gotten off track. i dont care if they ever vote for me but it does seem strange that they would vote for the same guy in a 7 day period this many times. curie.JPG

then if you scroll aaaaaaaaalllllllllll they way down to the bottom of the list number 250 has still gotten 3 votes in the last 7 days
curie 2.JPG

Now I may be wrong and have not went and looked at all 250 acounts on that list recieving 3 or more votes but I feel personally curie needs to do an internal audit of who is casting their votes and how. it seems they have given up on looking for new and original content and kinda kicked back and upvoted what comes on there follow list.

EDIT: THIS IS THE TOP VOTED ON AUTHOR: https://steemit.com/colorchallenge/@steemotion/colorchallenge-fridayblue-skull-0cc57d545d483
This is a damn photo accompanied by a 1 sentence stating that the photo belongs to the author. no source , NOTHING. this is bullshit. curie just lost my witness vote

@curie is an f'n scam.
They have been an f'n scam from the very beginning.
I was here.
They reward the select few by making less the value of the votes that you get by their sp advantage in the math.
They know, i called bs when they were proposed.
When a whale, gang, or large bot votes you lose money.
If things were equal here every post would get 5sbd.
That wouldnt be much of a game, but it gives you an idea how much you lose due to whale voting.

You think everything and everyone is a scam!

Just the ones ganging up or dogpiling on to rape the reward pool.

When delegation allowed whales to utilize their idle sp every vote on the platform lost value.
Its just a fact in the math.

When they delegated it to vote bots and sycophants they disadvantaged every other user on the platform.
You included, unless you got some or buy votes, then you are a reward pool rapist, too!

I suspect that @curie will take a look at this post and comment and hopefully make a comment to explaining the voting pattern and for the post you have linked.

Saying that, if you were to do the same review of many of the top witnesses, I suspect you would see a much small vote spread.

well once they convince me that they are paying attention around here i will restore my vote. Not that my vote means anything but i feel it is better placed elsewhere or not at all for now.

Nice post with a great message, Ash!
I'm not on the list, but I've been supported in an amazing way by @curie in my earlier days on steemit. So whenever I have a chance to support or promote them, I'd do it with enthusiasm and gratefulness.

If one wants to support quality content creation and curatio on the Steem blockchain, voting for Curie as a witness is a matter of course.

Loved and resteemed

Thank you!

Yes only the 6 previous months and 10+ votes made this list.

If one wants to support quality content creation and curatio on the Steem blockchain, voting for Curie as a witness is a matter of course.

Perfect!

Thank you! :D

Thank YOU for spreading it! :-)

Asher.

Meanwhile I can understand some people, to some extent, I think you're doing this for a very good cause. I personally believe there's different types of spam. Spam just for the intention of getting exposure, sales or whatever. Which is a bad way of doing things.

This was not the bad approach, in my opinion. You tried to help @curie instead of trying to lure people to vote for you as a witness. - And I think that's a rather noble thing to do actually.

What many seems to ignore or even understand, is that Steemit is to some degree about who you know and who you interact with. To some extent it's about making friends and to do some people favors, as you often will get the same in return.

For example:
I don't expect to get votes from all the people I support with my votes, but I sure do appreciate the votes I get, and I also know that I'll be able to get more support from others, as long as I support others as well.

  • It's basically text-book procedure.

The same can be applied literally everywhere on Steemit. To some extent. - Keep up the great work!

hey man

Thank you for your support, I appreciate it especially in light of some of the comments I've received today.

I hope we have interacted enough for you to know that my actions are for my desire to do the best for this blockchain, and I now understand that those that I have not interacted with previously may not take this post the way I had intended.

You live and learn eh.

Thanks again dude, have a good day! :D

No worries Asher. I know your heart is in the right place at all times and you deserve so much better than what some of these comments you've got contains.

It's impossible to please everyone at all times. Take things with a grain of salt. - We got your back! :)

Thanks, much appreciated :)

I'll do my best to heed your advice, but i really hope my mom doesn't see the 'SOB' comment! :D

On the way. @curie is one of the best aspects of the Steemit ecosystem. It can't be allowed to go down.

I completely agree, thank you for your support of their project.

@abh12345 done and done.

Thank you!

And I apologize if you in any way felt 'shamed' into voting - This was just a call for help for what I feel is a very worthwhile project :)

Not at all @abh12345 - I figured as much, so absolutely no need to apologise :)

Thank you for seeing my intentions today. I hope my mum doesn't read some of the comments here, she'll be really upset!! :D

Don't let it get to you :)

@jaynie He said you will be ashamed if you don't vote. Just kidding.
His intention is good anyway.

hahahaha!!!! @legendchew ;)

people get so worked up over nothing.... like they have been thrown into the spotlight or had to walk outside in their undies... lol

I was always in trouble in school anyway haha :) so nothing new to me to be in the spotlight lol... but I do agree that @abh12345's intentions came from a good place... so will ignore all the whinging here...

It reminds me of people who don't know how to tailor their instant chat group notification settings. hahaha! Like get a life (or customise your damn settings)... not everything has to be a drama.... :) - no need to stomp out of the group in a huff! haha

:)

I found out I've been voted 3 times (I thought there were 2, I may have missed one). Still very grateful to them as the last one came in a moment of discouragement and may have kept me here. Came to a community trying to keep a standard and thinking that trying my best might be enough, but then the trending page and continuous bid bots, and all the wars. I came along with a more naive mindset and I confess I got a little discouraged when being aware that trying my best might not be enough on this playfield , so for that encouragement I'm grateful. Thanks for the gentle reminder but I have already voted NOT because of appearing on this list (which I think might not be in my humble opinion a good idea to encourage newbies to do so). Still I want to say that many newcomers take their time to vote, as I recently myself started to understand what witnesses do and so on. I attended some pannels and just barely starting to undestand things better. I just got aware yesterday of the drop when I was stumbling with all the "curie stories", which I think is a fortunate campaign. I have done my research and that's the reason I encouraged myself to vote (also for ocd). No offense intended but some users may feel pressured, everybody need to do their own research and understand what or why they vote.

Well done on the votes :)

Yes, people should certainly research before they vote, but I've had remarks like 'I didn't know @curie were a witness' today, so a 'gentle' reminder worked in that case.

I've spent a lot of time apologizing and upvoting the angry and abusive comments, sorry for not giving you the response your message deserved.

Wtf?
I thought you understood the math?

When @curie votes on their select few they take money away from everybody else to give to those select few.

When a whale votes everybody else loses money.
If the average user knew that they get pennies because the gangs and vote bots take away from the value of the votes that they do get, do you think they would vote for more of that?

The only witness vote curie deserves is if witness downvotes were enabled.

The only thing they support is quality bootlicking. In the comments and the server - hell, I want to shout MAKE IT STOP and then I puke. The posts they support are very seldom anything but long winded shitposts too. For each curied post there are 100 better posts. A group of self appointed people with inflated senses of being artists or technical gurus or something; and a trail of even shoddier pathetic wannabies bootlicking beneath them. They and adsactly epitomise what is the worst on steemit. The bid-bots and flag warmongers are like angels in comparison.

I been saying that since they declared dissent not to be worthy of support, f'them.
Greedy ass kissin' bastards.

Not everyone.

The new user who's spent all day working on something beautiful to present to us doesn't lose.

@curie are 400,000 SP short of a whale.

Did you add in the weight of it's trail?

Why would you want to support an account that is powering down?
I mean, other than an attaboy for finding some shame about what they did?

You do know that every post would get ~5sbd if things were equal?
That wouldnt be much of a game, but it gives you an idea of how much is taken from every author for every post they make to make room for the whale's voting for their favored few.

I'm sure some education would save you the embarrassing comments above. You know how you sound to someone who understands how Curie operates? Exactly. Dumb. Read her white paper and head to ask questions where you don't understand. Quit the rage-spit. You sound butthurt. I guess you didn't get the Vaseline with your Steem starter kit.

Check yourself, the only one sounding dumb here is the one living in fantasy land.
Kissing extra ass wont get you any more votes.
Speaking of votes, how many have you received from curie?

Are selfvotes the only ones you get?

Curie is a witness and pays her curators, reviewers and node managers for their work, not to talk of maintenance. Being a witness, you get paid in steempower. In what other ways would you expect curie to fund her activities if not by her earnings from her wittness work and SP earned from Curation. Hence the need for the periodic power down.

When @curie started it paid its curators by upvoting crap posts with @ned's posting key.
I dont know when it got some shame and stopped doing that, but clearly the community doesnt value its service even now, if it ever did.
Their decision to only support approved corporate speak excludes those of us with opinions.
Until they support dissent and shitposts they can kiss my a**.
And its looking like the vast majority of users agrees with me in not valuing their contributions.

Well, I obviously wasn't here by then ( if that's what really happened). But now, I'm saying what I know and the fact that it is doing a lot of good for this platform.

Gangs reward their members.
Steem is a community pool, ganging up to reward the few comes at the expense of the many.
You dont have to accept that fact, but your denial of the truth doesnt make it any less true.

Its a blockchain, if you have any questions the truth is there for all to see.
You really dont have to look any farther than @curie's own rules.
Who do they say need not apply?

They will need to power some down to support their witness costs I suspect.

Surely you don't think every post is worth 5 SBD?!

You're a strange one, but I still enjoy your comments :)

I prefer the term unique.
Im back in the right account, that other one isnt supposed to be contraversial in order to qualify for curie votes, but you can guess how that has gone.

I dont think every post should get its equal share, but neither do i think it is ok for the favored few to get hundreds on crap while 'good' content gets pennies.

Look at trending, that fool bought his place at the expense of the good content created today and the bots are laughing on the way to the bank, also at the expense of 'good' content creators.
And because the way massive sp works in the math, i will make a post explaining in more detail later, those 'good' content creators will never get more than a few pennies because that is all that is left for the few votes they do get once the bots reward their customers.

When whales vote every other vote is worth less.
When a whale votes with ten times the sp the votes are diminished by 90%.

Why you refuse to accept that is beyond me, but you dont see anybody contradicting me, do you?
If what i am saying was in error the whales would happily downvote what i said, but it is true, it has been true all along, and it will continue to be true as long as proof of stake controls the voting.

Will you accept the truth?
Will you help me work around the math by calling for no voting in excess of 100mv?
Time, and the blockchain, will tell.

I'm confused by your explanation...

Ask your questions and i will try to explain?

oh dang.. I thought I had already voted curie for witness... well I have corrected that oversight! We need all the active witness we can get! especially in the top 20.

They really do - Having support so many new accounts for so long, I am a little surprised at some of the comments so far.

Thanks for your comments of support :)

surprised? It is about the tone of your post... not about curie...

Is my tone deserved of being called 'a son of a bitch'?

Well done on your @curie vote yesterday, and thanks again for your comments today.

Oh no, you don't deserve that! What is wrong with people? :)
And thanx!

People on Steem seem very prone to being butthurt. I think the rage spit was mostly underserved. Some of them I'm personally aware have dissenting views of Curie, despite that they and their projects have benefitted from Curie support. So this post just provided them an opportunity to express their bigotry.

LOL

And rightly so!

One of the first witnesses I voted for almost a year ago, and still concider them a good choice:-) As Bernie said recently, at least they are trying to do something useful.

I thought that they only support the newbies' posts, and frankly for me it was a great surprise to see several users with a high reputation, regularly upvoted by @curie

As Bernie said recently, at least they are trying to do something useful.

Yep! in a rather damning report, I think @curie fared pretty well!

The Rep 'rule' has been slackened recently, but I think the post would have to really stand out to earn a vote.

Thanks for the supportive comments :)

Hey @abh12345 Thank you for pointing that out, I must admit I hadn't noticed they had their own witness. They definitely deserve my vote for everything they've been doing for everyone!

You are not the first to say that today, so on this basis i'll call the post a mild success, despite the abuse I have received!

They definitely deserve my vote for everything they've been doing for everyone!

Hear hear!

Well said Asher!
I do find your initiative for curie support a well deserved one, and i for one took had gotten much support from curie via steemstem community, and indeed voting them as a witness is well deserved. Just learnt about your steemcommunity project and it sounds fabulous!

Thank you very much!

I've got my back to the wall today so your support is much appreciated. The tone of the post may not have been perfect, but the intention to gain support to one of the best witness projects has been seen by some at least.

Thanks for your support for our project also :)

You got my attention @abh12345. Witness vote done.

Thank you!

And I apologize if you in any way felt 'shamed' into voting - This was just a call for help for what I feel is a very worthwhile project :)

First, not everyone understands what is witness vote for and how does it make a difference. Probably most don't really read it also.

Secondly, Curie do not read and give feedback. So no one knows who and what they are.

Thirdly, they do not make a connection with users. No engagement involved and how user supposes to cast their vote for it.

Lastly, The most important question: It's a project which we don't even get involved. Should we cast the witness vote?

I cast my witness vote anyway.

You make some very valid points, some of which I have raised to @curie previously also.

I believe they are looking to resolve some of these 'issues' soon.

Thanks again for your comments today.

No worries.

The easiest way is to market and advertise @curie witness vote is to:

  1. Create promote & awareness of witness vote.
  2. Keep it running every month.

Same goes to @steemcommunity. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this; I didn't even know curie was a witness, and I appreciate the call for support!

Thank you for seeing the intending nature of the post, a call for support. I'm saddened by some of the remarks today, but I hope the post has helped the cause.

Thanks again.

Yeah...it's hard. People gonna people, you know? I think we all do our best.

I'm learning every day :)

There are people with 150+ votes from Curie in the last 180 days?
I thought there was a limit of one a week or so?
That's a wage.

These people will be receiving a small 'community' vote for their continued excellence. I think the vote is currently worth 2 STEEM.

It might be a wage in some countries, but not here in Spain.

Thanks for your comments.

Ah. Thank you for clarifying. It did look a bit odd :)

EDIT: List removed for post navigation ease / lack of recognition for proxy voting.

What a brilliant post @abh12345! I hope it has the desired effect. 😊

I'm gobsmacked to see that some people have had over 100 votes and you've never had one. Something's not right there as far as I'm concerned! 😢

Thank you Gillian :)

My content has never been 'exceptional', and so I have no hard feelings at all!

Hmmm. I think your content is exceptional but maybe not in a 'curie' type of way. I think this post, for example, is exceptional because it is a statement of your belief in what you feel is right for this platform and you are acting on that.

There's a lot of moaning and double standards that goes on on Steemit but your content is never an expression of that.

It might not be exceptional in a curie type of way but in a community type of way I think it IS exceptional. 😍

I don’t get your logic. I’ve never gotten curied but for example Jerry Banfield upvoted me too, should I give him a witness vote just because of that even when I don’t want to support the way he works?

put some damn clothes on woman!

how very dare you mention JB on my post!

jokes aside......

The post did lack a basic introduction to witnesses, and @curie. I stupidly assumed that this was a given as there are 1000's of these post in the history of this Blockchain.

It was a call to support this witness to people who have been supported by it in the past 6 months. Not a demand, not an attempt to shame anyone, and i didnt even call anyone a 'son of a bitch'.

If anyone does not like the way @curie work, then there is of course no obligation to vote.

Thanks for your comments.

I have to admit, this was a good comeback. I used he-who-shall-not-be-named to provoke you and I do agree that curie and him shouldn’t even be used in the same context.

Well it worked a treat, play fair now :p

Jerry seemed like a nice humble guy from what I saw at Steemfest, but these witnesses are chalk and cheese imo.

@abh12345, thank you for this list of quality content providers. I hope those on the list that have not voted for a witness or understand the witness program look into it, and that those that do understand it think about voting for @curie. That is a shit load of quality content to look through.

Exactly - a quality content produce list is this! Thanks for seeing it this way 😁

When I saw this post, the first thing I wanted to know was "How many Curie votes have I gotten?" I don't think it's very many. I would be surprised if it was even 5. Maybe this would be a good analysis request. "What has Curie done for me?" In number of votes and the value. That would include all their tiny community-support trailing votes. (I don't understand the point of doing that. Any insight you might have about that, I'd appreciate it!)

Well as long as you didnt want to call me a SOB or an asshole I'll take it!

The smaller votes are covered by carlgnash and markangeltrueman in the comments above somewhere.

Cheers!

Glad to see this post! That list is dizzying, though. I hope this grabs the attention of many who head over and give Curie a witness vote. You also got my witness vote today. Stoked to hear of your witness project!

Thank you thank you! :D

Well the post certainly did grab some attention! I've been called some names this past 24 hours but @curie has gain some support too, so all good :D

great job @abh12345 as you always managed to get a super organized vote vs no vote statistics! I never received (at least I don't remember) any votes from @curie, maybe because most of my publications are in Spanish because it is my mother tongue, but it has my support for quite some time, I continue their work and have good results, I hope I get to be in the top 20 again.

You could try for a spanish/english post, I think your English is excellent and I have seen numerous double language posts be curied.

Good luck @melvadg and thanks for your support :D

Thank you so much for the tips and support you give to the community! hail of success

Finally got to this post in my feed! :)

First off, that's a long list.

Second of all, I'm sorry you're taking more flack by some people here for essentially standing up for a group that's trying to keep Steemit honest. There's plenty of others commenting though who are understanding what you're doing, so hopefully that helps.

Seems like a lot of misunderstanding among the first group. Not sure why. I haven't been following you long enough to know if these kinds of angry commenters are the norm, or just since you've started to talk about bots, or if it's just because now you're witness. I hope people take a deep breath and step back a little to try to understand.

I voted for Curie for witness because I like what they're doing and because I have been a beneficiary of their support twice now. I've got to figure out what to do help beyond the witness, though, because I'm not ready to take the brave step of delegation just yet.

Hopefully with their "fundraiser" (my word), they're going to be able to keep things righted.

Anyway, chin up.

Or is that, Duck!

I can never remember which. :)

Hi there top engager 😊

A little bit of flack with this one but the people that's know me hopefully understand my intension was not to shame, just to make aware and help who I think are a solid witness.

The majority of the comments are positive, like this one and so that softens the negativity and name-calling.

Chin up me duck! 🐥

You know, I like that. Top engager has a better ring to it than king. It also allows for the potential of more than one top engager. Nice. :)

Yeah, people tend not to like being called out much. It hasn't happened to me here yet, so we'll see how I react to it when it inevitably does, but here, where everyone knows more or less what everyone else is doing, it shouldn't be a surprise that it can happen.

At the same time, I'm pretty sure this wasn't what the guy who wrote "How to win friends and influence people" had in mind. :) Of course, he didn't have bots to deal with, either.

Well I guess I can scratch this one of my to-do list :)

Thank you for the valuable information!

My pleasure! I had to field a few unhappy customers with this one but overall I think it was worth it for @curie 😁

I bet you did! But yes, I too believe it was worth it :)

Hey Asher, upon reading your post I honestly got a little embarrassed, haha. I've received a few @curie votes in my short time here and it's really helped my account more than anything else, by far.

What you made me realize though, is that now that I'm committing more of my time to the platform, and as my understanding is beginning to grow, I need to care more about the broader picture; such as witnesses. I will definitely be giving @curie my vote :)

Thanks for spreading the word!!

That's really good of you Herbert :)

@curie will appreciate the support I am sure. Thanks for taking the post the 'right' way!

I have told mycuriestory and they already have my vote. Ten times over if it were possible.

That's really awesome to hear! :D Good stuff!

Wow, nice analysis brother!
Thanks to remember me, i got 11 upvote from curie :)

11! Nice work dude!

Now THAT i call a list. @curie was amongst the first witnesses I voted. They are a great project.

Great stuff! As you can probably gather, I'm an advocate too ;)

I have never had a vote of @curie but I would very much like that to happen, I do not really understand what I have to do to make that happen, however incredible initiative and idea

I have also never had a vote, but I respect their project and this is the reason for my post today.

Consider it done :) I have witness voted @curie and @themarkymark I very much appreciate the support and work that curie and it's witnesses/curators do for us minnows :)

Great! :D

@curie is a great project, and they have been good to us. We will support them.

That's great, thank you for the support of their project which I believe has been an excellent addition to the platform.

There are people who got 172 Curie votes? WTF? I thought Curie was about promoting new steemians with good content, not about pushing some singled out individuals into SBD heaven.... Can someone explain this?

[UPDATE]: Read answer to my question by @markangeltrueman here https://steemit.com/curie/@abh12345/curie-has-supported-you-now-it-is-your-turn#@markangeltrueman/re-multi4g-re-abh12345-curie-has-supported-you-now-it-is-your-turn-20180409t114735009z

The ones who can explain this for sure will not do it, because they will expose themselves.
See my comment.
abh12345's post backfired by being honest.

It is down to community and direct follow votes. Community votes are small upvotes cast by a number of "subcommunities" of curie that look for specific subject areas etc. Direct follow votes are votes cast by curie as a result of a top curator upvoting a post.

Both of these types of upvote are small (a few percent at most) in comparison to the normal curie vote of 20% VP or upwards, so that's why there are a number of people with a large amount of curie votes - their rewards however, will not match what you are expecting from a "big curie" vote.

The reasoning behind the direct follow upvote is to continue rewarding authors after they have received the bigger curie vote should they continue to post high quality content. The example of steemmotion having 172 curie votes - if you look at the percentage for that author, they have 0% curie votes giving them a 0.06 $ payout from curie. It's probably as a result of someone voting on another trail that curie follows at a low percentage.

You can rest assured that what you think about curie and the larger votes that it gives out is exactly the case - only upvoting new and under-rewarded posters who produce exceptional content.

Thank you for explaining that :)

I was wondering too. Thanks for your question.

Appreciate your reply. I was wondering too.

There are various aspects to curie. If you read the update being provided weekly, you will understand that curie has different communities they do support with very little percentage votes up to less than 1%. This means that one could likely get these less than i% upvotes multiple times. This is different from the major upvotes which I think you are refering to.

That's because @curie supports communities. Those are minor upvotes. For example, @curie supports @steemstem so every vote done by @steemstem will be trailed by @curie at a small fraction of its voting power. For more information, you can read one of @curie's blog and communities and sub-communities that were supported by @curie are mentioned there.

for some time I never get any noise from @curie. but I will consider this because this is a post from you. I will vote on @curie as a witness and I believe it is because you are my best friend. give me a hint to be able to do that friend.

Great :)

It is difficult to get a vote, I didn't get one when I was rising up through the ranks.

Maybe one of the commenters on this post who has received a vote could help? good luck to you!

Thanks my friend.
