President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi instructed on the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, to continue the flood mitigation program by way of normalization and naturalization of the river in Jakarta. Customarily referred to that program under the coordination of Ministry of Housing Public works.
"It is with the Minister (Minister for state owned enterprises). It program program, Mr. Minister," said Anies after the meeting of flood management with Jokowi at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (8/1/2020).
According to him, the program of normalization and naturalization is a long-term project conducted with the Ministry of PUPR. So, he's not sure when it will start the program.
"It is long-term. So short-term now handling the victims," he said.
Anies claimed to have discussed the issue of normalization and naturalization with the Minister for state owned enterprises. In that meeting, river normalization carried out from upstream to downstream.
"So ultimately we're in this together so comprehensively from upstream to downstream. The widening of the river that we just talk in the downstream," he explained.
