Yeah at this point not much really changes in the game dynamic besides just getting better gear like you said.

Sorry can't remember if you played this one or if it was another Steem user, but if you want to play another game in a similar vein to Diablo 3, you could try Path of Exile. Its a free game that is just like Diablo but with a REALLY long story at this point.
