5G and EARTH DAY 2021: Discernment Required — Introduction

in #environment3 years ago

By Patricia Burke

As Earth Day, Thursday April 22, 2021 approaches, two distinct worldviews are emerging regarding sustainability.

One worldview claims that the planned proliferation of wireless and 5G telecommunications is of no concern. Based on the assumption of no harm, technology expansion on land and in space is presumed to be an appropriate driver for benefits, including economic and job growth. This is translating into policy decisions that take precedence over community and individual rights, including the taking of private property.

The other perspective is that there are multiple, apparent, adverse consequences derived from the introduction of man-made artificial frequencies into the natural environment. This view notes worrying trends regarding the overrunning of community and individual rights, and abuse of power.

Post September 11th

In the years following 9/11, many policy decisions were justified based on the assumption that increased surveillance was of such importance that privacy rights, safety, and other issues had to be disregarded. And one result was that rather than efficiently focusing intelligence resources on individuals suspected of criminal activity, data about activities of all individuals began to be collected. These decisions were made without consideration of the resource and energy costs, including the carbon footprint of collecting, transmitting, and storing of personal private information irrelevant to security concerns, in air-conditioned, energy-intensive data centers, despite climate concerns.

Post Covid

Now, as society moves to address the challenges of the post-covid years, increased wireless telecommunications investments are being promoted as the “holy grail” solution to nearly all of society’s challenges. From addressing the digital divide, to health care access, to smart cities, to energy efficiency, to transportation, to climate concerns - according to the majority of mainstream messaging and societal assumptions, wireless is the way.

At the same time, many engaged activists addressing issues with the food supply, nuclear energy, warfare, mercury and other chemical toxicants, air pollution, environmental justice, medical choice, disability rights, and a myriad of other issues are increasingly aware:

The wireless paradigm not only does NOT serve as a solution, but serves as a force multiplier for every other engaged, informed, activism concern.

For example, it is not possible to protect the food supply while focusing only on chemical inputs, pesticides, and fertilizers (ex. Monsanto’s use of glyphosate) without examining the impact of microwaves on the nature environment. Support for the accumulated wisdom of biodynamic, regenerative, local, small-scale, and organic farming methods is mounting. This paradigm shift includes growing recognition that precision agriculture’s wireless transmissions jeopardize seeds, plants, and pollinators.

As another example, mercury poisoning is intensified by exposure to microwave exposure, which opens the blood-brain barrier, allowing toxicants to reach the brain. Radio frequencies are a force multiplier.

Wireless radio frequencies are overriding nature’s protective strategies to ensure the survival of the species.

Alongside emerging evidence of disaster capitalism associated with covid, censorship and legislation prohibiting civil rights, including protests, are the mark of dangerous, repressive regimes.

Informed Consumers – Greenwashing’s Worst Customers

But at the same time, consumers have been insidiously led to adopt an attitude of entitlement to faster, more ubiquitous wireless connectivity. The core values of environmentalists are being successfully manipulated.

Uninformed decision-makers embracing smart city applications are unintentionally adding fuel to the fire of planetary damage and exploitation. The expectation to remotely surveil premises or control appliances and devices wirelessly increases demand for additional antennas, cell towers, and satellites.

As Earth Day 2021 approaches, greenwashing will be at an all-time high. Not only is the science regarding wireless health and environmental damage being actively suppressed, but wireless will be promoted as an essential tool for addressing climate concerns.

For example, environmentalists have been deluded into believing that water meters sending hundreds or thousands of signals per day are safe, efficient, and necessary (for example, to detect leaks.)[1] With every smart gas, water, and electric meter transmission, environmentalists cast a vote for increased environmental degradation and abuse of human rights.

Environmentalists need not alter their core values. But they do need to look at the rush to deploy 5G and wireless telecommunications for what it is – a strategy that belongs in the history books alongside the promotion of cigarettes as a cure for many health ailments – until they weren’t.

Discernment, transparency, and accountability can be restored to the environmental movement to address the dangers of increasingly centralized control and decision-making. Although wireless transmissions are invisible, the damage is not. When environmentalists realize that they have been rooting for the wrong team–the team that is cheating– the scales will tip.

According to the official Earth Day website, “EARTHDAY.ORG is honored that the Biden Administration has decided to convene a global climate summit on Earth Day 2021. Many important environmental events have happened on Earth Day since 1970, including the recent signing of the Paris Agreement, as Earth Day continues to be a momentous and unifying day each and every year. We look forward to being a part of this historic climate summit and making active progress to Restore Our Earth.”

In the days leading up to EARTH DAY 2021, Stop 5G International and colleagues will highlight a series of ironies, issues, articles, and resources about the environmental footprint of 5G, and over dependence on wireless technology. Advocacy for safer, wired technology solutions supports those choosing to be on the right side of history.

Be on the right side of history. With lower latency and lightning fast speed.
