Hello and welcome to my Monthly Income Report for January! This is my 6th monthly income report for my Lifebe.com.au blog! Here are the links to previous income posts:

Monthly Income Report - November 2020
Monthly Income Report - October 2020
Monthly Income Report – September 2020
Monthly Income Report – August 2020

Let’s hit this….

I've now got 40 posts on this blog. With 9 produced in January. Definitely happy with that I'm getting far more consistent with my publishing. I'm still really keen to continue producing 2 or 3 posts a week, and I'm starting to notice an uptick in traffic due to, I think, this consistent cadence.

This monthly income report will include not just income from this blog, but income from my blogging efforts… this includes my content on PeakD.comCinnamon.video and Coil.com

I won’t be including the web-monetization from Coil and Cinnamon because it consists of hundreds of transactions… it’s honestly not much, a couple of dollars a month.

Income for January

+ $300 Cinnamon Boost

Looks like I made the Top 10 in December for Cinnamon.video... which is awesome. I honestly didn't think I'd make it in there and I'm absolutely rapt that I did.

Since Coil.com announced that their boost program was finishing in April, it looks like a lot of content producers have dropped out of the ecosystem all together.

I honestly have no idea if Cinnamon will be ending their boost program, it's possible because I think they were getting their boost payout amounts directly from Coil... or maybe they'll just keep trucking along.

I'll still be posting and creating videos for Cinnamon because it's a truly important alternative to YouTube, which, honestly, seems to be getting more and more unwatchable every month.

This is my Cinnamon channel:

+ $606.23 Coil Boost

This is almost exactly the amount I predicted I'd receive last month (I didn't go back and edit it, I promise) and while I'm thrilled that I'll continue to have this support for the next couple of months, I'm honestly going to need an absolutely incredible increase in audience and Coil affiliate link signups to get anywhere close to these amounts.

I do think this was an incredibly smart move by Coil. I've felt for a long time that lots of creators were producing content purely to receive the boost and had no interest in actively growing the web-monetization community. I think the boost was a great step up to get people in, and now we have to really work to grow the space. I'm excited and daunted by the challenge.

Costs for January

– $14 Fathom Analytics

My Fathom trial period is over and since I don’t have any active referrals yet (click here if you’re interested) I’m now paying full price for this honestly fantastic service. I check it every day and I can't emphasis enough how excited I am to use it and not leak data to Google Analytics.

Results for January

Income Total – $906.23

Expenses Total – $14

Profit Total – $892.23

I still can't believe that I'm earning anything at all for my content, and I'm just thrilled that any of this exists at all. I'm halfway through my 12 month experiment and I'm really pleased with how everything is going so far.

I also earned 194.65.33 HIVE for my posts and investments in the Hive ecosystem… which is worth about $25. I didn’t put it in my income tally because I’m keeping all my Hive on the blockchain. It’s not true revenue.

Analytics for January

I don’t have the traffic yet for any advertisements or anything, not yet anyway, here are my analytics for January:

I'm honestly thrilled with this improvement on last month. Unique people visiting the site went from 24 to 102 and site views doubled. Considering that I'm producing the same output, this is where Pinterest, Coil and Twitter are starting to work for me.

Here are my traffic sources and which blogs had the most views.

I'm a little worried there was a novelty factor involved here, especially with the Ninja Warrior Training Week 1 post that might not translate into consistent readership... but that just means I'll have to work harder to find the right audience.

Not sure what this means:

Source

I'm surprised to have any international visitors honestly... but by the same token I might have to work harder to get my Australian friends to come visit.

I’m socialising my posts on Pinterest and Twitter.

I'm not hugely convinced Pinterest is worth my time... but it's part of my 12 month experiment so I'll keep at it.

Affiliate Links

Now that the Coil/Cinnamon Boost programs are over, affiliate links are going to have to be the life blood of my blog. Clearly referral programs are pretty popular, I keep finding affiliate links I didn't know I had... I haven't had any bites yet, and the Amazon Affiliate program is threatening to kick me out in a couple of months... but I'm not too stressed about it... I'm sure it'll happen naturally if I manage to build up an audience.

Thanks so much for reading my Monthly Income Report for January.
