Syesha Mercado, American Idol finalist with her partner Tyron Deener, embracing their 1-year-old son, before he was medically kidnapped and is still in foster care after medically kidnapped in March 2021.

Then while still in battle to get her son, Amen’Ra back their nightmare got worse on 11 August 2021.

Mercado and Deener were driving in Sarasota, Florida with their newborn daughter when authorities pulled them over and insisted that they surrender the then 10-day-old child.
In the Instagram video, Deener can be seen sitting in the driver's seat, while Mercado was in the backseat with their baby.

The police told the couple they have a court order for them to hand over their 10-day-old baby for a welfare checkup. The couple pleaded with the police to be the ones to take their baby girl to the doctor.

Mercado was out of the car and begged the deputies to not take her daughter as she was breastfeeding. They were adamant to take the baby, and she pumped breast milk in the back of the car, after which she slowly started walking towards the deputies, with her baby in her arms, still begging and crying for them to not take her baby.

Her partner, Deener made a video of the whole ordeal. It can be seen in the video that the sheriff's deputies explained why they are taking the baby. They said Mercado gave birth, while still in a legal battle to get custody of her son back. She failed to inform the authorities of the birth.

In response, Deener argued that they had requested all questions about them go through their attorney, which he maintained did not happen. The couple also shared that the baby had just gone for a health checkup the previous day, and they had all the paperwork to prove it.

In this instance this real life story has a happy ending.

Mercado this time with the video as evidence turned to social media to get her children back. Even celebrity, Kim Kardashian and her 70000 followers became involved.

Syesha's partner posted the good news on Instagram that their baby girl, Ast was returned.

Apparently a GoFundMe account was opened and more than $R400000 dollar was raised. Deener said

thanks to the media attention, celebrity voices, and high-powered attorneys who took up the case.

And because of having the right Attorneys on their side they were reunited with their son, Amen'Ra on 1 October 2021, six months after he was kidnapped by the state.

"It's a great moment to have Ra physically back with us but it's not over with," Deener said. "We gotta deal with six months of supervision, of the state coming to our home every week for the next six months to show that we're competent and able to raise our own baby."

Although a happy ending, it's still very sad about the lost time. Mercado said what about "first moments" that cannot be done over. It's lost forever....
