A (Positive) Review of the FitCoach App

I was a (willing) victim of some dodgy Facebook advertising recently... FitCoach advertorials had been in my feed for well over a year, on a semi-regular basis advertising their Fitness App to me, and I weakened last week into downloading the an app, as I fancied upping my weekly workouts from just running to include circuits a few times a week.

The app cost me £20 for a monthly subscription (longer subs were cheaper as usual) and I got (happily) more than I bargained for, so overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

The sign up process

This was a little cheesy: involving images of (for me, once I'd clicked the 'male' option ) overbuffed men I had to select to choose my age category.

Then there were quite a few more questions to determine how quickly I wanted to achieve what goals (strength, toning, flexibility) and I had the option to purchase.

NB I didn't get the subscription prices via email until I'd gone through about 20 questions to determine my programme, a bit of marketing genius there, but with over 20M downloads it clearly works, and I was in the market for something like this anyway, so fair enough!

The workouts

The programmes will vary depending on how you answered the questions during sign up but I got THREE relatively short daily workouts, which sounds like a lot, but they are short consisting of:

  • A 10 minute yoga session
  • A 25 minute strength or aerobic session
  • A 10 minute core strength session.

Timings are approximate and occasionally there are only two sessions rather than three in a day!

The workouts themselves were a little disappointing if I am honest, consisting of simply someone doing the exercises on a video and a patronising voice over providing 'motivational' quips every now and then, but they did the job!

For me the workouts weren't too arduous (30 second breaks every 5 mins) but that will be down to my goals not being too time-intensive!)

The meal plans and recipes

What I didn't expect and what really makes the app worth the money IMO are the three daily recipes you get which outline specifically what you should eat every day.

You get a great variety of typically delicious meals:

Other functionalities and final thoughts

There are a few other bits to the app but they don't require too much explaining such as a water tracker, step counter, and an intermittent fasting timer.

Overall this is a reasonably priced app that provided me with a suitable level of exercise for the goals I specified, is simple to use, helps keep you motivated and provides some very tasty recipes to boot, so happy days!

I could, however, live without the silly overbuffed images!

Cheaper than a personal trainer at the gym, let us know how it goes for you

That is very true, looked at that way this is value for money!

looks like a comprehensive fitness app.

But... I wonder if you can really get a six-pack like that in the image without going to the gym,, hehe

I think those six packs are a myth for most of us, whether you're going to the gym or not!

True... the easiest way to have it is to wear a shirt with a 3d-printed 6-pack. LOL!

Anyways... I think I will soon give this app a try....

£20/month is a fair bit for some people. How personalised do you think it is? I think any plan does you good if you stick to it and there are lots out there, some for free.

It certainly feels pretty tailored to suit my needs based on what I put in, it's £20 but cheaper per month for three months, and I'm assuming you get to keep the workouts in the app and can go back them, and just modify going forwards, so it's like paying up front that way.

Caloric deficit is the short answer. Combine that with gym workouts and you'll become an addict of such lifestyle in no time.

Yeah, a good diet is vital for overall health... so if you are getting 3 daily recipes included, and they are actually pretty good, then that is definitely a win!

Works for me!
