What is Food Engineering?

in #foodenginering4 years ago

Food Engineers are those professionals capable of acting in all fields of food technology, applying engineering and science to their manufacturing, preservation, storage and transportation. This career combines knowledge of microbiology, physics, chemistry and engineering, among many others. Simply put, they handle food-related issues from production to ready-to-eat.

Why did I choose this career?

I decided to study in the food area when I was in my last year of high school. I went to a technical school oriented to Process Industries (Chemical Technique), and in the sixth year we had a workshop subject in which we did laboratory analysis of various foods such as flour, milk, oil, etc. There I was already interested in the question of knowing what the things we consume every day have.
On another occasion, a girl promoting a Food Engineering career at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes was invited as a workshop subject. She showed us a lot of gels with different structures and explained what type of food each one was used for and I was FASCINATED there and said I need to know more about this, so she finally convinced me. (Plot twist: that girl over time became the director of the Food Engineer career, she was my teacher in the Food Chemistry field and the first test I had referring to gels I DISAPPROVED, but after I understood it well and approved).

My university

The beloved and majestic UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE QUILMES (UNQ). Located in Bernal, Quilmes district, in the South zone of Gran Buenos Aires. Public and open to the entire community. The Food Engineering degree has an ideal 6-year study plan, with a credit system that must be combined between compulsory and elective subjects. There are approximately 45 subjects in total, passing through Mathematical Analysis, Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology and specific subjects of food and industrial organization in the last section.

Preferred subjects

It is difficult to decide because the subjects of the last years are all specific, but in my top 3 of preferred subjects were Food Chemistry, Food Analysis and Food Science and Food Technology. They all made me suffer, don't be fooled.

I recommend this degree course because it is beautiful and super interesting. I find it great to know the secrets behind food that are present throughout our lives. For more information you can visit the official UNQ page.

Regards!

Laura.

I can see your keen by the number of posts in one day, and I see you respond to comments which is good.

Let me give you some advice, don't post more than once a day - we only have so much voting power (you will learn about this), seek out others, vote and comment on their posts, the comment bit is especially important.

If you want to write in multiple languages, do it in the same post. English will get you more visibility, that's just the way it is.

Keep your content original, over 300 words per post is always good.

I picked you out of a load of #intoducemyself posts for various reasons. I hope you enjoy yourself on HIVE.

Agreed. Need to build more of an audience before it's worth posting too often as posts will expire before they can earn much. I see @lauramica is into sewing and there is a community for that. Communities may be a good place to meet people.

Thank you very much! I joined just a few days ago and I am in the process of learning! Your advice was very helpful!

Wow what a interesting work field, great write up i never heard of it before

I'm glad that you liked it!

I'm considering it for a postgraduate degree. I studied biochemistry in my undergrad, I think that makes me eligible. I always loved food biochemistry, it was my favorite course in school

Do it, you will not regret it! <3

My sister works in a similar field. She is involved in nutrition and food engineering. I've heard lots about it over the years but it is a fascinating area.

Great!! You're right, it's a fascinating area <3
