After a last minute delay, Sony finally revealed more Hardware design for the next generation gaming console, Playstation 5. After winning the last generation war for gaming consoles, Sony has designed a bold new look with some interesting curves and features. While many expected more specific details during the reveal, the stream was more focused on the amount of games developed for the new console's launch. Unfortunately, they left the viewers and fans with important questions like price and date of launch!

As a person who also watched the current generation's launch years ago, I was surprised with the amount of games they announced as it was definitely an area where they lagged last time they had a reveal for the current generation. We saw how they have gone back to some iconic games to support the new console with featured gameplays from Gran Turismo, Sackboy (from Little Big Planet), and Rachet & Crank. They also made space for the very popular online game of Grand Theft Auto 5 which will be expanded and enhanced for the new console where they will allow current players to bring forward their PS4 games for free!

However, those games mentioned only accounted for about a third of all the games announced as the amount of developers presenting new games for the new console kept coming during the stream. We saw great graphics from clear next gen games but also some traditional graphics from others as well. There were a number of highly anticipated games missing from the reveal like God of War and Call of Duty but it is clear that they will eventually make their way to the new consoles in due time.

Sony also announced a couple of additional hardware components like their Headsets and Cameras as well as a charging station for the newly designed controllers which had previously been released. What caused even more questions was the fact that they actually introduced two versions of the hardware that included a Digital Version. It seems that the disc player will now be an optional feature of the new PS5 which makes sense as the amount of games being downloaded continue to increase relative to the amounts of discs purchased. I personally have not used a disc in over two years!

We now wait anxiously for more details like release date and prices as they remain unknown. Most website continue to signal a Holiday 2020 launch but given the many uncertainties around the world, it could still be a date that could be moved. They have also not yet allowed preorders which is different from the last generation's launch which they allowed as soon as they were announced in E3 at the time. It will certainly be an interesting time for gamers come the holiday Season at year end!
