A viewer had suggested that, the thermal mass might work better if it had been collecting heat all summer long. I was curious what would happen if I warmed the water up in it and just seen if it could hold the water at a higher temp or if it would go back down to the mid 30's temps it has been holding at all winter.

I guess its worth the experiment, but without watching the video I can guess what happened.
That wasn't the issue.
For it to REALLY work, you need to have thermally efficient glass, allow the visible like radiation to heat the water, and then trap that infra-red radiation.
Keep up the experiments.
