During our time at Island Escape in Phuket, we availed of their massage services. They offer Thai massage and some others, but I read that Thai massage is quite hard/strong(?) so we just had the normal massage (I don't know what it's called :P).
I'm always hesitant to go for massages cos I'm a bit sensitive to touch and so I will need a high level of comfort with the spa first before trying it out. This caused me to never had any massages in my life (at least those in spas) and this time since I was in Thailand and already trying a lot of new stuff, why not try one more. :D
The overall process of booking is also really easy and convenient as we just had to go to reception, choose a schedule, and then a vehicle will take us to the spa (which is just inside the resort premises).
The spa looked so nice and comfy. I think this place is actually not their permanent place for their spa as this looked more like a room for guests, so I assume this is a temporary one til they build their own since a big part of resort is still under construction. It was okay regardless. :D
We filled out a form so they could provide the suitable service for us. We could also write which body part we're sensitive of and if we want to be gentle at that part which is really nice as I'm more sensitive in some areas than others. @Acidyo and I chose the moderate pressure.
After filling out, Acid went in first and changed to his bathrobe. There is only one masseuse and I prefer to be last since I'm still quite nervous lol so I just waited seated on the chair nearby.
The massage is 60 minutes but I don't mind waiting. I was given this tea which tasted nice. I asked what it was called but I forgot it now. :P The taste is nutty and I really liked it. :D
This was the view outside. Really peaceful with the nature and the birds flying. This was also still under construction and I could only imagine how it would be like when it's finished.
I was a bit jealous of their bathtub even though our room was literally next to the pool. XD Still having a hot bath would be really nice. :D
When it was my turn, I was a bit nervous cos I was just thinking what if I just laugh the whole time or I get some panic because I'm ticklish but the masseuse was really nice and understanding. I guess they're really used to people like me that's why she handled me well. :D
It was relaxing although in some areas it could be painful but not much. She focused on my shoulder and lower back area which was requested. She used coconut oil which smelled nice. This resort has their shampoo, lotions, and body wash in coconut which also makes sense since the island is called Coconut island. :P
The masseuse would also ask us from time to time how we're feeling or if the pressure is okay.
When we're done, I felt relieved as it turned out well. :D I can't also believe I just did it considering it could turn out bad when I'm touched in the wrong places but the feeling is so nice knowing you have done something new in your life.
It lessened my lower back and neck pain and I felt "reset" for my body lol. Our bodies also smelled nice thanks to the coconut oil. :D
The overall experience was great and I'm glad I had my first in this place. I'm thankful for the great masseuse who was really professional and understanding. :D
When my wife and I were in Thailand, we got massages almost daily. It got to the point where our bodies were sore from how often we were getting them. Massages are amazing.
It really encourages you to get a massage when it’s literally everywhere 🤣
I've never been to a massage before and I'm really curious. There are crazy people who think that massage parlors all have happy endings. Dude, why just, never mind :P

Hahaha,.I also remember my 1st time I experienced this, I laugh at the start of the massage because I was ticklish. My friend was laughing because of me. I really enjoyed the massage :) Thank you for sharing this story. It bring backs memories. :)

I’m glad you tried it out. I just love a good massage, they work wonders. I get that there’s a certain hurdle you’ll have to overcome but I totally think it’s so worth it!
That bathtub though… mhmm, that looks so Berry inviting too.
It's always best as a first timer to go to a nice spa as opposed to one of the many roadside places as it's much more professional and the staff will be properly trained.
My wife goes once every couple of weeks and I go just to sit and enjoy the relaxing environment and drink the delicious tea!

Yeah that’s also what I’m thinking, I don’t want a bad experience for first time as first impressions really last for me which could discourage me for next time. Maybe some day I can go to the roadside spas that have NO SEX hahah. Or there is also a spa here that offers Thai massage although not sure how Thai it would be :D

I don't to be honest. I don't really like strangers touching or jiggling around with my muscles as well as having the patience to lie there for an hour or two.
The touch thing you also mentioned can actually be symptomatic of mild autism or ADHD. This is why we have a large sensory room at the wife's clinic because it's an important aspect of occupational therapy for kids.
It also manifests itself in not liking certain materials or clothing and some kids and people don't like different foods touching each other on a plate. All tiny things that don't affect an adults ability to be an adult but for kids, can be signs of possible issues.
