The Scarlet Marsh Hawk (Aethriamanta Brevipennis)

IMG_20201126_111536.jpg

Earlier while waiting for my son to leave his school, I took a moment to do photography hunting. Beside the wall of the school fence, there were lots of bushes, and by chance, I immediately saw a dragonfly perching on a twig.

Aethriamanta brevipennis (Rambur, 1842) or commonly known as scarlet marsh hawk is a species of dragonfly in the Libellulidae family.

In this picture it is a female, it can be seen from her back and tail which is golden yellow. While the male dragonfly has a dark brown back with a red tail.

Unlike other dragonfly species, the scarlet marsh hawk is smaller and has a shorter tail.
