It's no bloody wonder that the round of 16 of the World Cup is giving us a whole lot of exciting results. It's been fairly inspiring, fairly entertaining and fairly captivating.
By the end of each game, half of the players on the pitch are often filled with bitterness while the other half are filled with excitement.
That's exactly what the World Cup does to people and we are loving it.
As things stand, USA, Australia, Poland, Senegal, Japan and South Korea are already knocked out in the round of 16 while Netherlands, Argentina, France, England, Croatia and Brazil are through to the Quarterfinals of the tournament.
All the games in the round of 16 were top-notch, but the one I especially enjoyed was the one between Japan and Croatia. What a game that was. We finally got to see a penalty shootout in this edition of the World Cup and it was a joy to watch.
Japan and Croatia went toe to toe throughout the normal duration of the game. The first half ended with a goal in favour of Japan which was equalised afterwards by Croatia in the 55th minute of the game.
The action was dragged into extra time followed by a penalty shootout. As they say, penalty shootouts can be anyone's game. This particular one went in favour of Croatia and they happily booked their spot in the next round of the competition.
The Brazilian samba lads are still buzzing. What a win from them today. They completely outclassed the South Koreans in the first half of the game. Their performance in the first half was enough to get them a spot in the next round of the tournament.
At the moment, we are already filled with a surge of anticipation as we look forward to the last set of games that will be played in this round of the world cup. The fixtures are;
Morocco ? - ? Spain
Portugal ? - ? Switzerland
All eyes are on Ronaldo and Portugal, especially after the brilliance that was displayed by Messi during Argentina's performance in this round of the competition.

It was however an interesting match. As for the Brazilians, they would need to be careful, they seem to be ahead of themselves.
Hahah... Don't mind Japan. I was really rooting for them to win that game, but their penality kicks were disappointing. Haha.
As for Brazil, they are just doing dancing competition in Qatar. Those boys will soon meet toughened opponents. Hehe

Japan really did well. No one thought they’d get where they did at the start of the competition but they did.

Haha... They had it tough from the group stage. Getting into the next round was a miracle and that's exactly why I thought they had good chances of moving forward.
To be fair, their game with Croatia was fairly balanced. If only Japan finished things up in the game, they wouldn't have had to get to penalities

Yeah. The interesting thing about this Japanese squad is that a good percentage of their team are playing in Europe. They have good experience and they also have a young squad.
Their next World Cup will be a joy to watch
Yeah and although Son didn’t necessarily light the World Cup on fire, the others stepped up. Hoping they qualify for the next one.

Japan deserves a standing ovation for their performance in the world cup, they came and shake the balance of the tournament, beating Germany and Spain and going toe to toe with 2018 runner-up Croatia for 90 minutes and extra time. What a team and I am happy to have watched them play in the tournament.

I know how stressful penalty shootouts are like but damn was Japan's performance there underwhelming.
Haha... Japan really had to mess that one up. Their penalities were poorly taken. Croatia just had to get a smooth ride from the very first penalty kick without any pressure.
