G'day tribe! Initially I was on somewhat of a "boycott" of the World Cup by not writing on it. After my home country Australia performed so notably and because of the action on the field, my love for writing cannot escape the excitement of the field. Well there you have it. Textbook "sports washing" much?
Anyway .. before the World Cup started I had predictions on every team and what I believed they would finish at. How accurate was I? Let's see how I went so far. Each of my pre-tournament previews/predictions can be seen below so you know I'm not cheating.

*Full disclosure I did make a couple errors so the numbers aren't balanced 100% i.e. Group E I made a prediction that 3 teams would progress beyond the group stage which is impossible. I also somehow predicted that Belgium, Germany and France could all make the Final

So I predicted 14/32 placings correctly and there are still 11 predictions outstanding. My huge prediction was Australia and making the Round of 16 at the expense of Denmark. I don't think many, if any, people in the tribe could have predicted that. Thankfully I had bias on my side as I'm an Aussie.
Out of the 7 I have got wrong so far, Germany to win the World Cup as well as Belgium to make the finals was as big a shock as many to me. I didn't pick up South Korea advancing at the expense of Uruguay. I also was predicting Canada advancing ahead of Croatia and after the first game I thought I was onto a winner.
Croatia's experience showed in the end and Canada just weren't clinical enough to advance. The US was disappointing and I thought they may have enough talent to shock the Dutch, in a tournament of upsets.

Pulisic will probably look back at the earlier one-on-one chance he missed against Netherlands and think about what could've been. Belgium getting ousted in the group stage is my biggest upset yet, didn't see it coming.
That was huge. Lukaku will remember that for a very long time. So unfortunate for any Belgian fans that it's looking like it's the end of the golden generation
This world cup is unexpected and surprising so far.... Ain't surprised to see some prediction that went wrong but still damn that Australia prediction in round 16 was too Good!

Thanks mate it was definately a shock for the Aussies to go through, even more so after the game one defeat to France. It'll be very interesting to see if the upsets continue in the do-or-die format of the knockouts
Welcome... So many upsets and not sure how more yet to come ahead.... Well, it's really getting so interesting now.
Belgium to exit in the knockout stages is everyone didn't expect. Even the Germans, they're one of the favorites. Very interesting to see Belgium and Germany being your finalist that exited the group stages! What a world cup it has been.
Croatia Group Stage! Prediction at its lowest!
They have a very good team and best part is all of them are team Players. Nice combination of youth talents and experienced players. And most importantly they have one of the best midfield in World Cup. Modric, Brozović, Kovačić and talented Lovro Majer.
No one was expecting Belgium to exit that early. To me, I thought they would make the finals. Now, those not expecting are the ones emerging.
That was one hell of a prediction . You should be a punter .
As per the badges I have received from hivebuzz for their contest, I have 25 predictions correct yet and sadly I missed 2-3 to predict and when I later checked the results, those would have been correct. This is annoying but ultimately my mistake 😂
The worst is when I got all 4 of the matches wrong during group stage days. Good luck with your future predictions!

Germany, yes, Belgium, not really. Your predictions seem logical overall, even Germany as going in they had all that it takes to be the champions. Japan was just a surprise overall, going against three European giants without losing (Not counting penalties)
