¿No fui suficiente?

The fear of abandonment, we've all felt it in one way or another. But that goes beyond not just not wanting to be alone no matter what, influencing my life and causing problems due to having low self-esteem and past experiences.

You know when you get to that point of putting yourself aside, what you really want and putting your life on the back burner. Yes, I have found myself there many times throughout my life and this may have been due to my dad abandoning me when I was five years old, a difficult age for a child to understand and also to wonder: What did I do wrong? Was I not enough?

These last questions have weighed on me for a long time and I have found myself in the same repetitive chain of being with people who do not value me, for whom I am not someone of importance.

And here comes the psychological issue, the wounds that were caused with or without intention by people who I thought should have taken care of me at the time and did not.

Time has passed and now I am a really distrustful person, I can't believe when someone tells me a compliment or that they see something good in me. I don't believe it, even though I have been in therapy to try to change this, although I confess that I didn't continue because I didn't have the possibility to do so.

My distrust comes from the fear of abandonment, of achieving something or finding friends and that everything ends badly. I am not very sociable, I am quite sensitive in fact and that has brought me too many problems in a world where being a sensitive person is synonymous with weakness. And having this fear is like being handcuffed, condemned. You are not free, you always depend on the gaze of approval.

I suppose that maybe now, after going through a very strong depressive episode and feeling on the verge of death, I have reflected. Time is not as they say that it cures everything, but it does help to forget at least a little bit the times of depression.

I think the fear of abandonment is something that we all have felt at some time and that has hurt us too much, especially in everyday life. Where nothing is safe and everything changes.

One of the things I have learned on my own to manage this fear is to let things flow, not to push, not to pursue, not out of pride but more as a matter of respect for myself as a person who deserves to be valued.

And for that I want to thank in this post my sister @gabsartbook:

Sister, thank you for always showing me that I am stronger than my fears. For being an example of resilience and always fighting with all your strength for your dreams. I know that maybe I have already tried to tell you on other occasions but I want you to know that thanks to you speaking to me with the truth and up front I have realized that I cannot continue living like in the past. In the darkest moments you have always been there, I believe that every person should find someone like you in life. You have taught me so much since I was a little girl, you are the friend I always wanted to have (my only friend besides my mom). Your courage in the face of life fills me with so much pride, I know that maybe I should have been the one to set the example for being the older sister. And I really regret not having been there when you needed me the most. But I want you to always remember this: I want you to be happy, however you want to live your life. No matter what I will always, always love you and be grateful to have you in my life. You are amazing and authentic and that is what you have taught me the most, that regardless of other people's opinion I can be whoever I want to be.

In closing, I am at a point where I feel determined to let go of anything that I don't want to be in my life, bring something positive or fill me with gratitude. Life is short, let's live, laugh, sing and love with our hearts.

As Gustavo Cerati said in his song: To be able to say goodbye, is to grow.

Gracias por leer hasta aquí♥️, nos vemos en un próximo post | Thanks for reading this far♥️, see you in a future post.

I think it is good to examine our lives and try to figure things out. But we also have to let some things go and move forward with some hope and confidence in a better future.

Family is so important and you wrote a really beautiful tribute to your sister! I'm glad you have her in your life and I'm sure she is glad to have you in her life. Best wishes to both of you! :)

Thank you for your support and beautiful comment, my sister is very important in my life, I try to be better for her and my family. I hope she sees in me someone who despite her mistakes tries to move forward.

¡Bienvenida!
