Editing a new YouTube ‘T-Man Adventures’ video

in Filmmakers3 years ago

Last night I finished editing a brand new T-Man Adventures (@tmanadventures) video!

I’d you’re not sure who/what T-Man Adventures is... look here

It’s Part 2, a follow up to the Blind Box Challenge: Level Hard video. You can see the most recent one here.. 👀

We made the challenges a bit tougher in this, featuring things like real paper money, a Pokeball, some rice and a plug. He did really well, so we’re going to do an ’Extreme’ episode as the last one of the blind box run - I’m gonna make them really difficult for him!

We have a really good theme going forward with these episodes

The format is working well, and they’re relatively easy to film with three cameras. It’s the editing where the hard work and real creativity begins to help it take shape.
I like the look and style.
We have three cameras rolling; one main wide shot on my C100mkii and two GoPro’s capturing the closer moments.

It’s been hard keeping on top of these videos.
We’ve filmed more than I have time to actually edit right now.
There’s three unedited sessions of gaming, which are going to be fun.

Another reason editing these can take more time than usual is because I’m cutting on my old 2012 MacBook Pro, which is very slow and laggy. When I’m not at my office I use this machine.
It’s generally good for web stuff and word processing but video... not so much.
I only edit this stuff in the evenings at home when the kids are asleep so I can focus - but the super slow computer doesn’t help 😬 I think I’ll get a new MBP with the M1 chip... super fast! 🔥

They say the key to YouTube is to be consistent with output and build a following..
Sadly I’m not doing very well with that. Especially when output on the MacBook Pro takes forever.

Hey ho, at least we’re doing it because we enjoy it and that’s what matters, rather than stressing over volume and speed.

Keep an eye open for a new upload coming in the next day or so on the channel :)

What kind of lights are those? Do they flicker at all or are they true cine lights? They look great. Also, consistency is not only the key it is the most difficult part of YT. I watched a great video recently that discussed this and likened it to the boring routine of olympic training. Just gotta show up everyday to do the boring, repetitive training.

That is very true - all about showing up and putting the hours in.

Lights are these. https://www.simplysoundandlighting.co.uk/equinox-led-pulse-tube

I bought them for a music video shoot.
They’re cheap and versatile, no obvious flicker as far as I’ve experienced but they’re not proper cinema lights.
They’re not that bright in a bright room, but in the dark they’re ace.

They’re remote controlled and battery powered too, with loads of settings. I think DJ’s use them for kids parties and stuff 😆

But hey, they work for us!

That's great! Affordable, flicker-free lights that look great are good enough! Thanks. I've been looking for some LED lights that don't flicker. Unfortunately, my Hue Lights do so they're not as useful for filming.

Cool! Worth a go trying one out (they’re cheap enough) and if not then there fun just to have around the house for when the kids want to dance around to music

Thats a fun activity for the video and Thats quite the set up - 3 cameras! Too bad the editing on the Mac is so time consuming, there is nothing worse then a slow device.

Yeah 3 cameras sounds a lot but it’s necessary to capture the action properly, I’ve found.

Can’t wait to get a new computer!

I wish you all the best in your editing, buddy.

Haha cheers me too, I need all the best when I’m editing on my piece of junk computer

Exactly! Ride one.

This is amazing! So cool

Cheers for saying so dude!

Dude the whole channel is awesome, great coaching. How come one of the video is at 720p? You're a pro, tss tss tss... Where is my 4k? 😄

Cheers dude! It was a pain to setup but it’s going I felt now.

720p?! Which video..
I’ve not done 720p since about 2008 😂

Are you sure it’s not your internet speed setting it to 720?
They’re all 1080p.

🤣 No 4K here though! That might be considered a touch overkill!

especially for the 2012 computer :D

nice merch :)

Haha exactly, my 2012 can’t even play 4K, let alone edit it!
