Visiting the nextdoor neighbour. Wales

in Urban Exploration2 years ago

_DSC0470.jpeg

So the semi on the right it is then. Unlike the more hospitable neighbour, this was far more difficult to get into.

See that green door, you know; the one that's keeping secrets from Shaking Stevens.

_DSC0470.jpeg

There ya go.
Sometimes the body needs to be more "Stretch Armstrong", it would make life so much easier.

After a quick check to make sure there were no shards left in the frame, as I really did not want to leave my testicles behind in place of a calling card, I slithered in head first

C'mon
Let's mooch

_DSC0424.jpeg

Urbex Rule: No 11, allow your eyes to become accustomed to the light before you get stuck in.

If you fail to prepare; you prepare to fail.

Or in this instance FALL
Several times, in my haste to "get stuck in"

Sang the musical voice in my head

"Been spending most of life
Living in a hoarder's paradise"

_DSC0399.jpeg

Nope, nor me

_DSC0417.jpeg

_DSC0416.jpeg

A sign of things to come. There be lots of treasure in here.

If only I could stand up and keep my balance everything would be fine,

_DSC0420.jpeg

_DSC0421.jpeg

_DSC0419.jpeg

God only knows what is buried beneath my feet.

_DSC0469.jpeg

_DSC0422.jpeg

Yup stood on these, couldn't help it, sorry.

_DSC0427.jpeg

_DSC0428.jpeg

_DSC0426.jpeg

_DSC0429.jpeg

Another room, another, "jesus where the fuck do I stand", or perhaps more a "I hope it's a soft landing"

_DSC0434.jpeg

But amongst all the grot, those cotton spools actually look virtually new and unused.

_DSC0423.jpeg

_DSC0425.jpeg

Some clues 2019, and "Irene", was this the home of the spinster of the parish?

_DSC0433.jpeg

For "International Medium", read a charlatan that preys on the gullible and needy and goes to Benidorm for his holidays, paid for by your kind donations. In 2002 it cost you £6 to be amazed by bullshit, I did some research, he was back in the area in 2016 and charged £18, cheeky bastard.

_DSC0432.jpeg

_DSC0418.jpeg

I'm thinking super fan Irene caught up with an ageing Marty Wilde somewhere, before the days of the selfie.

_DSC0438.jpeg

_DSC0431.jpeg

Well I have sat here for hours trying to work out what is going on in this note book, I have given up, it has turned me to drink

_DSC0437.jpeg

Speaking of which, the nectar of the gods, Wrexham lager, brewed in the town since 1882, drunk by me since 1972, it was easy to pass for 18 in some of the pubs in Wrexham.

Could go out with £1 in your pocket, buy a pack of 10, No6 fags, get pissed (it was only 11p a pint then), and still have enough for a bag of chips on the stagger home.

Unless of course ya pulled, then it was slow down on the lager, oh and a babycham for my squeeze please landlord.

Happy Days.

_DSC0435.jpeg

_DSC0439.jpeg

I love clowns, but dolls are spooky.

_DSC0441.jpeg

_DSC0445.jpeg

I actually made it across without falling over once!

_DSC0447.jpeg

_DSC0443.jpeg

_DSC0442.jpeg

Totally in awe at the mug mountain, I mean how many mugs does a person need in their life?

Shall we go upstairs? I know you want to.

_DSC0448.jpeg

_DSC0468.jpeg

Oh and that's a phone, quite novel in its day, it moved away from a "ring-ring" sound to one that went "chirrp-chirrp", Oh how we loved our technological advances in those days.

_DSC0449.jpeg

_DSC0450.jpeg

Getting here would be fun if you had a dodgy curry the night before.

_DSC0466.jpeg

_DSC0451.jpeg

_DSC0452.jpeg

_DSC0465.jpeg

_DSC0457.jpeg

_DSC0453.jpeg

Two bedrooms, I was not expecting to see kids things, I am truly stumped.

_DSC0458.jpeg

_DSC0455.jpeg

_DSC0454.jpeg

_DSC0461.jpeg

_DSC0462.jpeg

Complete and utter decay, the air damp, the clothes damp, mould everywhere. Compulsive hoarding is a clinically recognised mental disorder.

_DSC0456.jpeg

"No, I am not very happy, would you be? Stuck on this shelf whilst everything crumbles around me, look at me look! I am covered in dust and crap, I can hardly breathe I'm wedged in here like some stuffed toy, now take your snaps and FUCK OFF"

"OK"

"And mind your nuts on the way out"

_DSC0459.jpeg

In conclusion I am happy to report that my dangly bits survived and are in fine fettle.

It's so sad. Why did people leave this beautiful house?

hey, thanks for engaging @mieppe , I guess when there are no family interested in tye hard work of clearing the place, it will just rot away

thanks for engaging @oyakhilomhen90 yes in a lovely part of the countryside too

I have done a couple of head-firsts, it keeps you young! Gloves are recommended unless you want slashed hands.

In 1985 a pint was £1 or so, before that I can't remember.

1985!!!! ah , you youngsters!!

Man that's a lot of stuff. I'm surprised that they left the photo albums. Those are the sort of things that wouldn't get left behind usually.

I can only guess, that as the lady had no direct children, any distant relatives can't be arsed

Damn, that is spooky somehow. Like if they stuffed their life into this cramped space and disappeared.

It had "atmosphere", @katharsisdrill , the sort me and @slobberchops thrive on

2019! It's not that long ago. So much has changed these few years, especially for this family, so sad

Yes I agree, two years of everyone's life lost never to be reclaimed. Angry Face!

All your glory laid out for all to see, yikes talk about hording....

Sure your testicles are happy to remain part of you, not there on a door dangling around for next nutter to arrive going through whatever collect dusk and mold!

Absolutely fascinating yet heartbreaking at the same time, you're looking at the echo of a life called Irene.

thanks for engaging @djjamesblack , yes a time capsule, for sure

How lucky you are to find this place, here it would have been impossible, they would have taken the house and stolen everything in it.🤦‍♂😆
By the way, what an impression those pictures, very creepy and creepy; although many of those abandoned things are gold.
Greetings!

Wow! You made it across that kitchen and wee heard from again? That was an expedition in its own right.

I like a challenge my friend!!!!!

Wow, haven't seen a babycham in ages. And yes, those dolls are flippin' spooky!

Thanks for sharing @grindle - looking forward to seeing you at tomorrow's Halifax do.

Annabelle 😊

hey cheers @planetauto , as you can see i did not make Halifax, as a last minute trip to the Balkans, beckoned, and as I suffer from Wanderlust it was too good to refuse. I hope you all had a great meet up.

Hi @grindle - sorry for the lare reply. Ben and I had to head south for Goodwood, so it's been a hectic week!

We didn't make Halifax either, as Lady Dorothy's welding wasn't finished...D'oh! Pictures from the event looked good though.

How was the Balkans trip? Are you still there?

Annabelle 😊

hi Annabelle, yes on the last leg now through Bulgaria, leave for home next Sunday. where can I find the photos of the event please?

I guess the Lady D is a bit of a bashed up car??? 😂

Sounds like it's been a great trip, @grindle!

Here's the link with photos: https://peakd.com/@molometer/success-the-great-northern-meetup

Regarding Lady Dorothy, she's not bashed up. Problem was that a mechanic "fixed" the welding 2 years ago - or we thought he did. He had done a really shoddy job and paid someone to issue an MOT without even looking at the car. We only found out last year when it was time to renew it. The car was still road worthy, thank goodness, as it took us a long time to find someone who was A) Capable - not many mechanics will touch a classic Mercedes 2) Honest and 3) Reasonable - you wouldn't believe how much we had been quoted

Also, the oil pump went and stopped the gearbox working properly, so that had to be fixed first, and again, it took us a long time to find someone who was A) Capable - not many mechanics will touch a classic Mercedes 2) Honest and 3) Reasonable - you wouldn't believe how much we had been quoted.

All in all, it's resulted in a happy ending, as she is now fixed, restored and has passed the MOT.

Although we missed the meet up (and also had to find another car to take to our YouTube Social the next day) she is ready for Silverstone Classic and the Retro Run.

Annabelle 😊

That is a beauty!!! and thanks for the link
