The old mansion

A little bit of history about this place. Meanwood Hall is a grade II listed building built around 1762. It was extended in 1814 and then again in 1834 it was further extended.

In 1919 is was bought by city council as the start of Meanwood Park Hospital which accommodated men, women and children with learning disabilities. The first patient Mr Frank Tottie was addmitted in 1919 at 10 years old and was there for over 60 years until hid death in 1979.

It was used during the war as an emergency hospital for was casualties. In 1997 the hall was converted to housing and the area around it is now a hosing estate.

This is it now.

It looks like its also been used as some kind of office in places.
The walls are damp and crumbling, floors dropping. It a real shame for such a nice building.
At the back where its been sealed off are new apartments with people living in them but the developer has gone bust so this is just rotting but not sure i would want a home on the other side of it.

Its been raided not long before we visited as there was a large amount of weed being grown in there and its had its share of undesirables leaving there bottles.
