THE FORBIDDEN CITY
700,00 Soviet soldiers were stationed here, the USSR's largest military compound outside its own country. That doesn't just sound huge, it is huge. We spent a total of 3 days on the site, 8 to 10 hours each time, and we certainly haven't seen everything yet. Many of the former accommodation buildings for the soldiers are now normal flats for normal people. Some bunkers and other buildings are so heavily contaminated that it is better not to visit them. And then there is the building of the Supreme Army Command of the German Wehrmacht. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to gain access to it. Apart from the main staircase, there is not much to see and photograph. I can't even estimate how many buildings there are, but there are a lot.
Main guard - Hauptwache
Commander Villa - Villa des Komandeurs
In the basement, the commander edited some 8mm dirty films.
He probably didn't want to take the red chair to Russia in 1994.
I don't know who lived in the green house, but the bell was certainly heard in the wider area.
As a contribution to international understanding, I visited the forbidden city with my school class in 1981 or 1982 when the 700,000 Soviet soldiers were still there. That was actually pretty cool. There was ice cream and fizzy drinks, the soldiers were really nice to us kids and there was a performance in the theatre especially for us.
The theatre looked a little different back then.
One of the children must have forgotten his car.
No connection at this number. - Kein Anschluss unter dieser Nummer.
Comrade Lenin must not be missing, of course. - Der Genosse Lenin darf natürlich nicht fehlen.
Another theatre. - Noch ein Theater.
The dining hall. - Der Speisesaal.
Actually, I wanted to put all the pictures from Wünsdorf in one post. But does anyone really look at 60 or 70 pictures in one post? And where is the limit for the size of a post? How many pictures and how much text is the maximum possible? Do any of you know? In the next few days there will be a sequel about my visit to Wünsdorf.
About me
My name is Sven Gerard, located in Berlin (Germany). Since 1989 I have been visiting abandoned places with my camera. My second great passion has been light painting for almost 10 years. Ideally I combine both. Check out my other posts if you are interessted in light painting and impressive abandoned places.

Peakd limits how many you can add but there are ways around it using hive.blog, and then copying the links over. I use hive.blog and do this anyway as its a fast dapp.
Thanks for your explanation. I use Ecency. For the last two pics it takes a really long time for the upload. That's the reason I start thinking if there are any limitations.
Ecency is a good dapp, very polished and if you are familiar with it then it's a good choice. I am too familiar with peakd to switch now.
Fein.
oh jeeeeeesus this is amazing
Thank you
you're welcome, it was on my list for next trip over. it looks awesome
Very interesting place. I can imagine it was big. Especially as you write being there 3 days. So much to discover and explore.
Seeing it abandoned now, after visiting it as a child when everything was actively lived in, must have been a strange exploration.
No idea what is actually to big for a post or to much photos. I do get the feeling after posting about the “Río tinto” that many don’t see all photos and text. It was one of my larger posts. I guess no more than 12 photos… and 5 min read… if somebody has better numbers. Let us know.
(Still a newbie figuring all out 😉)
Yes, it was a strange exploration. But on the other side nice memories come up. The visit of the "evil" Russians as a child was not as expected.
