The paraglider in my last post reminds me of the trip with my families to Mount Pilatus in Switzerland in the summer of 2014. It's also a mountain massif and there were paragliders taking off from the summit as well.

It's not by the sea, but the mountain and lake views were no less stunning. As new travels keep on coming, these photos have been sitting in my drive for so long. It's the first time I have sorted through them, and I'm excited to share with you the wonderful sceneries now.

From Alpnachstad station, we took the famous railcar up the Pilatus Railway. It is the world's steepest cogwheel railway, with a maximum gradient of 48% and an average gradient of 35%. It was designated as a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark. While traveling in the Alps, I was often impressed by such marvellous engineering feats.

As our little train climbed up the steep rail, I was thrilled to capture the spectacular views and the aerial gondolas out of the window. While my poor mom was sitting there nervously with acrophobia, and she was amazed by what she saw later from my camera screen... speaking of the documenting function of photos. :)

The Pilatus Railway in Alpnachstad also has connections with other trains and steamers on Lake Lucerne. It usually does not operate from December to April, depending on snow conditions, so in the winter, you can take the gondolas or cableways from Kriens. The highest peak, Tomlishorn (2128.5 m), is only about 1.3 kilometres southeast of the top cogwheel railway station.

We took a break with some food and drinks after arriving at the top by train. Then we began hiking through the magnificent limestone mountains, which were covered in green grass and lovely flowers. As you can see from my photos, we also came across some cows and other hikers along the way.🙂

I'd also like to go paragliding over such breathtaking vistas someday. I attempted it ten years ago in Chamonix, France, but it was cancelled at the last minute due to weather conditions. What about you, my friends? Have you ever tried paragliding somewhere?

Love the cable car, it would have been a nice experience riding it. Good afternoon!

Yep, that's quite a steep fun ride. :)

I see, thank you for the response, have a nice day ahead.

That sounds like a wonderful trip! I'm glad you were able to share your photos with me. It's always a shame when travel plans get canceled, but safety is always the most important thing. I haven't tried paragliding before but will love to try it. I love o increase my adrenaline levels

Well said! Me too, though I do fewer adventures now than before when I was younger. :)
