My Captures of the Strawberry Supermoon 🍓🌕 | 拍摄超级草莓月亮

Among the 12 full moons in 2022, we have 2 supermoons and 2 lunar eclipses. The two supermoons shine in June and July.

I didn't get a chance to photograph last week's buck moon, which appeared to be the biggest and brightest of the year. But I did photograph last month's strawberry moon. By the way, June is also strawberry harvest month now in Western Europe, which corresponds to the moon naming legend by early North American tribes. However, hundreds of years ago, when strawberries did not grow here, the full moon in June was known as the rose moon since it coincided with rose flowering.

So, I'm now sharing some images of the lovely strawberry supermoon, as my entry to Qurator's Photo Quest this week: Astrophotography. A fun fact, according to wikipedia,

The first photograph of an astronomical object (the Moon) was taken in 1840, but it was not until the late 19th century that advances in technology allowed for detailed stellar photography.

And according to astrocalendar, the moon would appear the most super/strawberry on June 14th, so I began photographing it two days earlier. My original idea was to capture the moon photos on five consecutive nights from the 12th to the 16th, so that I could afterwards compare the results. But the weather didn't turn out so good the last two nights. Therefore, I'm just posting a few photos from the first three nights.

I put up the tripod on the terrace, which faced nothing but flat Flanders fields and luckily the clear(ish) supermoon (at least for the first three days) :), so I went with the close-up option rather than with foreground.

The light Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 lens I used (clearly, I'm more of a traveler than a photographer ;p) was manufactured for Sony E APS-C format, meaning its 35mm equivalent is 27-450mm. The precious 450mm was utilised in these photos, as evidenced by the screenshots below.

Normally, I don't like rambling on about gear or settings, but they are critical for this type of astrophotography. So, in case anyone is curious, I've posted the manual settings below each photo. I heard about the Looney f/11 rule for calculating correct exposures in lunar photography, but I used f/10 in these shots, and adjusted the shutter speed based on the lighting.


I only did quick basic edits for these photos, so you are not seeing a bird, a plane, a wolfman or a vampire in them... :D What do you think of these boring images of our beautiful moon? How would you prefer to capture them?

在今年的12次满月中，有2次超级月亮和2次月食。这两个超级月亮分别是在上个月和这个月中旬。

上周的超级月亮雄鹿月是今年看起来最大最亮的一次，但我只拍了上个月次亮的超级草莓月。这些满月的西方名字就像我国古时对月份节令之类的别称，通常反映着满月出现时的自然天气等特征，据说是起源于美洲原住民部落。比如今年发生月食的5月和11月的满月，又分别被叫作花卉月亮和河狸月亮。几百年前，西欧这边还没有引入草莓种植的时候，6月的满月被称作玫瑰月亮，也是应季的结果。

今天就来分享一些草莓月的照片，参加这周Qurator的天文摄影活动。本打算从12号到16号连续五个晚上都拍摄月亮，之后就可以把照片放在一起比较。但是最后两天晚上天气不好拍不清楚。所以，现在上传的是前三天的照片。

拍这类月亮特写的照片最好使用三脚架和长焦头，我用了定时以避免手按快门造成晃动，相机手动设置的参数截图也贴在每张照片下面，以便有兴趣的朋友查看。
