Girls night out at HiveFest

in HiveFest2 years ago

On one of the Hivefest evenings, I went out for dinner with a few girls. None of us had met before but we'd been interacting with each other on the chain for a while and this was the perfect opportunity to get to know each other properly.

In my typical wing it style, my plan was to grab the girls on the first day and fix a time and location for dinner one evening because I know we'd all be there and wanted to see each other. Thank goodness there are others more organised than me. The week before Hivefest started, @sjarvie5 and @delishtreats suggested that we book a table first. Good point since Saturday was the only free night available. I'm glad we did that as @delishtreats suggested a lovely restaurant that she'd been to previously. For starters, the view was amazing, looking across the river to the Eye Filmmuseum, the Hivefest venue on the first day

NOMAD

The restaurant is called Nomad, very apt given that we're from all around the world. It's not very big inside and very unsuspicious if you walk past outside. You probably wouldn't even take a second look at it because the entrance is quite small and they have a big parasol at the front. Once you enter, it's fairly deep and looks straight out to the river.

Food

We had the five-course meal, and the way they serve the food is quite fun. Each dish is inspired by a country, and when the waiter serves each course, he will take us through the ingredients, give us some hints about its origin and we'd have to guess which country inspired the dish.

The first course is raw seabass in beetroot sauce topped with cavier/roe. I can't remember which country inspired this dish as we were having a lot of fun playing the guessing game. This was my favourite dish as I love raw fish.

Then we, I mean Sara 😅 got more organised and wrote down the information for the dishes.

LITTLE FRIENDS

You may have noticed our little friends Snowpea and Sonia peeping at the asparagus soup. They were having a great time as we grown ups were chatting away.

The HiveFest daytime gatherings are great, like speed dating. You try to get to as many people as possible within a very short period of time, And as much as you want to talk to people for longer, there's that FOMO so you go to talk to many other people as well. Evening small gatherings like these are perfect to develop relationships, and dinner went on for four hours I think. I can't even remember what we talked about because the conversation just flowed. Random things, vegan life, sustainable living, American temple architecture, a bit about the war, but surprisingly not much about Hive.

@zirochka called this the UUUS dinner because we came from

Ukraine - @zirochka Galyna
USA - @sjarvie5 Sara
UK - myself Pauline
Switzerland - @delishtreats Martina

And I felt a bit left out because all their names ended with A, except mine, so I decided that I'd called myself Paulina for the weekend 😄

It was great dining with your girls, and we must do this again at the next HiveFest!!!

Sort:

I could not recall the origin of the first course too.
What lovely pictures! I will save them all, including photos of Snowpea and Sonia. 🥰 And what a brilliant comparison with speed dating! 👍👍👍

I feel like I'd write about my HF in more detail, but instead, I enjoy your and Martina's stories 🥰

Thank you!

The little girls were enjoying themselves, and we'll have to make sure they meet again some time.

I think we all come back from Hivefest with lots of stories to tell and many afterthoughts, so much happening and cramped into those few days. Looking forward to more of your stories!! 😘

I can imagine how wonderful to finally meet these Hive ladies in person and I'm glad you all had a great night out together. The restaurant's view is stunning and the atmosphere is perfect for a USSS romantic dinner 🙃 The adorable pair S-S looks so happy together too :)

It would have been so fun to have you there too Trang. Some day we will meet in person! and we will have to go to a great restaurant too!

Yeah, thanks Sara, hopefully the Hivefest will happen in Aus or any countries in South East Asia next year :)

Wow, you ladies had a lovely time with each other and good food... I will go to this restaurant when I will get my next salary :D

You totally should @priyanarc It is the best restaurant I have been too. The food, the atmosphere, the owner, the waiters, the game, the learning about the countries and of course the company was wonderful.

I am planning to go there this Saturday if everything is okay... Wanna try this food and also I love the atmosphere of the restaurant...

wow~ dat food looks really good. Nice place to eat for sure. Girls night out~ i will never get to know. T.T

Maybe next time if you go to Hivefest we might invite you to be the honourary girl if you're lucky!!!

I can be anything anytime~ gurl!~ you just call~ I be ready. :)

Snowpea and Sonia had a great time... and the other girls too :))

Definitely, the little girls were really enjoying themselves swimming in the wine glasses.

Wauw that is a cool place with damn nice food actually. That is the cool thing about big capitals I always find. There is tons of options for good food. Smart moving on taking a moment with some more time for each other, we need hivefest to be like a week.. or are we dead then haha

I'm sure if Hivefest was a week, we'd still find plenty to do, but not sure how many can party for 7 nights in a row!!

Luckily Martina knows Amsterdam quite well, at least better than the 3 of us added together and we had a great night out. If it was left to my (lack of) planning, we'd probably end up in McDonalds on a Saturday evening!!!

Sounds like you had a good time, the food and presentation look stunning.

I like to try vegan meals from time to time, just for a taste experience. We were in the Duke of Gloucester pub in Crewe this weekend and I tried the vegan breakfast. Two vegan patties, beans, hash browns with char-grilled bell peppers, and a side of wholemeal toast. Yummy.

It tasted good, but the presentation couldn't match the meal you had.

The restaurant did a vegan menu as well, and Martina had that as she's vegan. The presentation was just as good as ours and according to her the food was divine, that's why she recommended it as she'd only just been not long ago.

I have really tried vegan food yet, apart from the other time when Burger King was doing a free offer on their plant based burger. Have to say, it tasted the same but I found the texture a bit crumbly compared to real meat. Think I'm still on the fence on that one.

I had such a great time with all of you that night! 🙂 4 hours can be way too fast 🙂

The first dish was from Norway. I remember as Sara guessed it right because that's where she was going 😂

You're so organised and have such a great memory!!! I remember Sara guessed correctly, but just couldn't remember which country 😅

Time flies when you're enjoying yourselves!!!

Looks like you had fun and great food.

Here cames a !BEER and the invite for the next #BeerSaturday in real life at the next HiveFest - whereever -

Likewise, looks like you all had a great Beer Saturday as well!!

Yes, it was a lot of fun, talks and delicious beer

Hey @livinguktaiwan, here is a little bit of BEER from @detlev for you. Enjoy it!

What a lovely long meeting with the ladies Paulina - great photos too of the delicious food. It is a great combination when conversations flow and there is always good food present.

Absolutely, food and friends is always a great formula that never fails. We missed out a lot of this in the recent years, even with our own friends at home

Yes we certainly missed out a lot with friends at home. I am trying to make up for it but somehow things still feel different.

Looks like fun. The rest of us were having less exotic food such as fries, so you have may have made a better choice :) Hivefest can be a bit full-on and taking a little break from the big crowd can be nice. Hope you all enjoyed it.

When in Amsterdam, you gotta have fries, or frites as I believe they're called locally, always goes well with beer, even back home. We had a great time at dinner, not that we didn't like the crowd, but we like a quiet dinner a tad more 😄

Oh Snowpea and Sonia they are so adorable ❤️❤️❤️ I can see you girls having a great time and you all look amazing. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Paulina

Thanks Dora. It's all over in a flash, can't believe it's been a week already and we're all back in four corners

I know. It happens to me all the time. When I really want to do something and really looking forward to doing it, times fly so fast. Have a great week, Pauline.

Oh, you lovely ladies! What a nice time, huh? I am drooling for that kofta!!! :D If I go there I am specifically going for the kofta.
Snowpea and Sonia look so cute!!

Martina made a good call with the restaurant, she had the vegan menu and said that was delicious

Hello Pauline Hanım 😄😄 I like your old name more. Looks cooler to me. It was a nice meeting. I was happy to see meatballs from my country (Turkey). I hope they made it delicious. Or I may have to invite you here 😎

Ahahahahahh this is a perfect description! 😁

That looked like a great evening; a relaxed dinner is a far better way to get to know people than the speed dating. I can't send any of those amazing dishes through the blockchain... but here's some !PIZZA :)
