Taken this morning I want to show what I got here at our new place.
The little Southern Double-collared sunbird flew past my head and landed on my favorite pot plant. The plant is called the "Christ Thorn" and you can see why.
My plan was to place only sunbirds in this post and then to post it in the #featheredfriends community.
But then the idea came to me to also show you our moon this morning. I made a note that the moon was not photoshopped, as some person accused me a long time ago of using photoshop and he said that there is no moon in the day, as the moon shines only at night :)
So believe me that the moon can also be seen in the day.
In any case, come and have a look.
And here below is the little sunbird in it's full size.
The sunbird's wife is much smaller and here she was looking for insects on an Acacia White Thorn tree.
I have a sad history with the Acacia tree as one of those white thorns broke off flush in my barefooted heel. Stuck into the heel bone and it was a nightmare to have it removed.
And here below I played with the moon this morning.
Note that this has not been Photoshopped.
Such a pity that the Pied crows did not cross directly over the moon.
And finally here was the moon in it's full glory.
Some fun here today and I tried my best to make the post interesting for you. Nature's in my blood and the sky is one of my playgrounds and I think that you can see it in my posts.
A resident in one of the complexes where we stayed before came up to me and asked me why do I take pictures of the high pine tree in the complex everyday? I showed him a photo on my camera of a Kite bird of prey with a large rat in it's mouth. His mouth hung open and he said, where?
So I pointed and he followed my finger and then he saw it, so he ran to call his wife to come and see it. Since then, and I think until right now, he continued to look at that tree with new eyes every day.
Yeah, some people walk around with closed eyes every day. To them if you mention nature, they think of grass lawns and they are not interested.
But if one really opens the eyes, amazing things can be seen.

Oh my goodness! That thorn sounds like it was a bit of a nightmare! That aside, you have two of my favourite things in one post, the moon and sunbirds!
Also, grass lawns are actually pretty interesting too if you take the time 🤣 We lived on a farm as a kid and it was one of my favourite activities to go check the lawn in the morning to see what wild visitors we had. The local porcupine often left me a gift as did some of the birds.
Yep, I remember that thorn to this day and my gran made some some potion to pull it out far enough so that my uncle could pull it with a pliers. I had to sleep with the potion in a bandage on my foot and the throbbing pain kept me awake for the whole night.
Ah! So you also lived on a farm as a kid, so you also know how it was to drive around on the farm with an old Chevrolet truck that had no doors or windows 🤣
No lawns on our farm, as it was wild African bushveld and we had 7 dogs to keep the foxes and the jackals away from the hen house at night. My favorite friend was an otter that lived in the river that ran through the farm.

Haha! I walked everywhere! Though my dad did take his landie out once in a while. We had 3 dogs that did a pretty good job at protecting not only the chickens but us as well. Though they had trouble with the resident hawk who would come by for some KFC occasionally. Though after a while that hawk had to work pretty hard to get anything as our chickens wised up. It was my designated job to go egg hunting, as they were free range for the most part and would sometimes pick rather strange places to nest, haha.

Oh yes, the sweet memories of an early lifetime that will never fade away. And as we get older our thoughts tend more often to slide back to those early days.
Nowadays I am the last man standing of my direct family , as my last eldest sister died a few months ago and then one wonders if it was all true or only a dream.
But life goes on until it's the end for all of us.
