A Captive Audience

Last Wednesday we went for our first greenhouse excursion. Not one of those big stores that import flowers and plants from factory gardens, but a real greenhouse. I like our local little greenhouse, it is called Rusty Raven Plant Ranch.

Along with the plants, being a ranch they have lots of critters. Some of these you can wander and look at. Pretty nice of them really, you see we do not live in a big city and we do not have a zoo full of animals to go and take pictures of.

My plant pictures did not come out very well during this trip but I did get some nice exotic bird pictures.

So first up a really big turkey. I picked his picture to be first because I have two that came out pretty nice and he will also be the last picture.

This little black duck saw me taking pictures of the turkey and well...he wanted to have his picture taken also.

This cute little guy has to be one of the most colorful ducks I have ever seen, I don't know what kind it is, but it is kind of cute looking. I could see having a few of them to eat all the bugs.

Peacocks, no doubt about it they are one beautiful bird, I however would not really want one in my yard, they are pretty noisy birds, Here he is checking out one of the ladies.

And as promised at the start, the second turkey picture. All nestled down just watching time pass by. I was hoping he would flash his tail feathers but he never did the whole time we were there.

Well that was our local greenhouse visit, part of it anyway. I do like being able to wander and take pictures after we have made our flower selection, it is a nice way to finish the visit off.

Great shots! I think the duck is a Mandarin.

Ah I think that name rings a bell, you were likely the one that told me last year. They are cute little ducks.

The Rusty Raven! Even your greenhouse has a marvelous #featheredfriend name! I want to buy my plants there instead of at Home Depot! Wonderful photos. Great shots of the turkey. He is the very definition of 'hunkering down' in that last photo. Those ducks are gorgeous and you captured them well! Thanks for posting to the #featheredfriends Community! !tip

Thank you, I am trying to support a few communities with my post, it is nice having all of them to browse and post in.

I wish more people thought like you! I'm looking for more delegation for @dna.org so that we can give out better votes for nature posts that get posted into Featheredfriends and #AmazingNature. Wish me luck! It's hard getting powered up when you are new!

Nice visit and you got great shots. The turkey is huge and the ducks pretty, especially the second colorful one.

It's a pretty nice place, along with the birds they have a couple of goats, some horses, and this year they added a pet pig, JJ. I may do a dpet post for his picture.

The third picture down is a magnificent Bird, I love the colours , thank you for sharing these Photos

A real nice looking little duck. He or one like him has been here a couple years now in their collection.

Enjoyed your feather photos.

Peacocks are noisy for sure. My Mom's neighbor got some, many years back. At first you didn't know if you need to call 911 to stop a crime or what, the way they would sound like someone screaming for help ! ha ha.... For a while it was an interesting novelty, till they ventured down to my Mom's yard (and their houses are NOT close together) .... and pooped BIG bird poop all over her porches and car.... not good.... not good AT all. 😄

Yes, they are pretty to look at, as far as having one for a pet, I think I'd prefer that colorful duck above.

At least duck can double as guard dogs. They say if anything moves, they start quacking and you can tell something is going on.

Your right that duck is pretty sweet. :)

Someone told me what kind it was last year, but I forgot what they said it was. But it was a cool little duck to see smaller than that black duck, it was one of the smaller ones they had.

I think they're both pretty badass ducks. I'd be sooped if I saw one of those in my travels. Absolutely would be still taking photos.

I have picked your post for my daily hive voting initiative, Keep it up and Hive On!!

Thank you.

Mmmm I LOVE turkey! hehehhee

I don't think they eat them, but then again, they at least know what it ate and where it came from if they do.
