My scoop of the year.

I heard that famous call of the king of our eagles and I felt a chill up my spine.

She came over all of a sudden out of nowhere and it was the famous African Fish Eagle. Sadly, the light wasn't very good but I was grateful to get the three fish eagle's as a gift.

But how did I know that it was the female? Simple as I will show you below.
Many times have I heard that call, but always far off as that distinctive and melodious cry is known to carry for many miles.
But this time it was different, as the call was much closer. But where, oh where?
Come let me show you.

Let me start the story from the beginning. Yes I heard the call, but where to find something in all of this below?

Now imagine standing like this, camera in hand and all of a sudden it is bedlam.
I felt my heart going crazy with excitement in my chest.

And here the king came in low from a different direction.

Up and up he went, reaching for the clouds.

Until he eventually only became a speck in the clouds.

What a special gift and I was one of the happiest guys in the world. Never for a moment did I think that I would get this, especially as it was rainy weather and we were alone out here. My norm is to come out during storms or preferably just prior to the start of a storm in order to see what I could get on camera. I was happy to get a few shots of the Malachite sunbird, but they were all silhouettes until the fish eagles came along.
I think that Mother nature rewarded me for my efforts by showing me these three treasures.
So it was indeed a happy day for me.
