Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 95

This week's #SMap in the Feathered Friends Community allows all of us bird watchers to share some pictures of birds that in the past may not have fit into a specific category, so FREE THEME it is.
Many of the birds in our region migrate during the cold winter months, but not the cardinal. Instead, they continue to catch our eye with their vibrant colors as they forage around for wild berries, nuts, and seeds. They tend to seek shelter and security in evergreen trees and shrubs, which are plentiful on our property. This first picture is of a female cardinal perched on the branch of an evergreen tree.

It was not long before her partner decided to get in the picture.

With the snow already flying the seed in the feeder makes for easy picking.

On this particular day, I was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of what I think is a Baltimore Oriole. I have only spotted this bird on a few occasions and they have never stuck around long enough for me to capture a picture of them. As luck would have it a Red Headed Woodpecker decided to photobomb this shot.

The Red-winged Blackbird is another common bird found in Upstate New York. This species of bird makes its nest on the ground, usually in fields of tall grass.

When it's time for the farmers to harvest their fields of hay, I'm sure that these unsuspecting birds have lost many a brood.

Thank you #feartherdedfriends community and the team, @nelinoeva, @melinda010100, @barbara-orenya, and @oks2crypto for all of the time and effort you put into this great community!

Sort:

Oriole always appear difficult to capture, each person I have met mention similar 😇.

Lovely round up of visitors to the farm, someone (human) must walk checking ahead before harvest begins I am sure, knowing you enjoy wildlife around the homestead.

Take care, greetings for Thanksgiving yesterday and !LUV to all in the home.

I know that @melinda010100 has a lot of luck drawing them in by putting out grape jelly which the seem to love.

The farmers who grow hay for their livestock usually have hundreds of acers that they harvest, I don't think that they are concerned with what may be nesting in the tall grass. Most times getting a 5 day window of good weather is their only concern and when the conditions are right their only concern is getting the hay in the barn.

I hope you had a pleasant Thanksgiving as well, we sure did, visiting with our children back in NJ.

Thank you for the LUV, always appreciated!

Working against weather and time I suppose most won't worry, birds will scurry away quick enough hearing the commotion.

We don't celebrate down here, having lovely cool weather with rain, grateful for sanity and sane people on Hive to share with 😇

Every morning our feet hit the floor is a reason to celebrate.

Celebrations start with a cup of coffee when I'm fully awake a great walk outdoors, yup every day celebrate another to enjoy.

You are fortunate to have so many visitors. The oriole is always hard to see, let alone to photograph. The cardinal is so attractive, especially the make with his red plumage.
Lovely images of your fetahered friends. 🙂

Thanks my friend. Many of the birds we see regularly have migrated to warmer weather, but there is still plenty of activity around the feeders and nearby trees.

Luckiest photo bomb ever!

When it comes to taking pictures of our #feathered friends, being at the right place at the right time usually happens through a stroke of good luck.

And by being observant! 💥

Yay! 🤗
