Porque yo he conocido a personas a las que no les gusta el chocolate. De hecho, hasta hace poco y era una, pero que no le guste la música, todavía no me he cruzado alguna. Yo considero que la música al igual que el café y la comida, son puntos de encuentro, que hacen el ambiente para relacionarnos. Incluso si no llevamos a lo interno también porque la música también nos acompaña a meditar y nos ayuda a estar en paz y calma. Así que todo tenemos un gran banco de canciones, y para los que cantamos quizás un amplio repertorio, aunque en mi caso no es del todo cierto. Lo que es un hecho, es que podemos adaptar la música a las situaciones que estamos viviendo, dependiendo del tiempo, el espacio, la compañía y las emociones. Incluso si queremos contectarnos con un recuerdo o una emoción podemos hacerlo por medio de la música.

Para mí seleccionar algunos temas de preferencia me resulta bastante complicado, sobre todo si considero que canto desde que era niña y aunque ahora no pertenezco a alguna agrupación, he sido coralista durante gran parte de mi vida. Ya hace tiempo que no canto en coros y solo canto en este Encuentro de Talentos y para mí. Para equilibrarme los chacras de vez en cuando.

No obstante, ya que nos piden nombrar algunas me voy a arriesgar a seleccionar algunas canciones que por su fuerza e historia ha marcado mi vida de alguna manera. Realmente, han sido muchas. Podría destacar, por ejemplo, la primera canción coral que canté cuando era niña o, la primera vez que me hicieron una prueba coral y casi me desmayo porque me equivoqué. O también la primera vez que me emocioné al cantar y sentí que la voz salida del alma. Otra opción sería mencionar lo emocionante que esa escuchar o cantar el himno nacional fuera del país, o el himno de la Universidad Central de Venezuela en una embajada. O también cantar aguinaldos, algo que simplemente me encanta, recordar cantar con amigos que ya no están o con mi padre.

Recientemente, hice un test de inteligencia y mi primera inteligencia fue la musical en ese momento comprendí algunas cosas que me pasan.
Hay muchísimas canciones que podría mencionar, las que canto los martes por ejemplo: (1) Qué bonito, (2) Me cuesta tanto olvidarte, (3) Volver amar, (4) A medio vivir, (5) Te vi y muchas otras, que he compartido a lo largo de estos cuatro años de programa. Espero que esta selección pese a lo extraña espero que sea del agrado de algunos.

Las primeras seleccionadas

En este caso serán dos, porque fueron interpretadas en el mismo momento. En este caso la primera pieza corresponde a un arreglo coral, un tríptico de Maurice Ravel que se Trois Chansons (1914-15), la componen Nicollete, Trois beaux oiseaux du Paradis (las tres bellas aves del paraíso) y Ronde. Una composición coral hermosa. Con esta pieza y otras participamos en un concurso internacional de máxima dificultad en Roma en 1997, cuando yo pertenía a las filas de la Coral de la Facultad de Ciencias de la UCV. Aunque todas eran piezas fuertes, esta creo que fue una de las más complicadas por la extensión, el ritmo, la pronunciación en francés. Además, se sumaba que había que interpretar de arriba abajo todas la piezas con una sola afinación. Y la forma de evaluación era si público, lo qe lo hizo más difícil. Todavía recuerdo lo cassettes con lo que empezamos a aprendernos solo la letra a una velocidad super lento, y despues, se grababa más rádo, las clases de pronunciación y como todo se fue engranado durante meses hasta el día de la participación y , más aún cuando anunciaron los ganadores y ganamos el primer lugar.

Fue una labor bastante intensa, trabajamos duro para poder pararnos allí frente a un Jurado, en un salón frío y ellos inmutables, chequeando afinación de vez en cuando. Es un momento que siempre recuerdo porque con eso me conecto con mi valentía, porque me digo a mi misma, "Gea" si fuiste capaz de hacer eso puedes con todo. Así que considero que esta experiencia contribuyó con mi desarrollo como persona y como profesional. Cuando terminó el parte internacional pasamos a interpretar Fulía de Cumaná y ahí nos soltamos, recuerdo que se me dibujó una sonrisa y empezamos a movernos al ritmo de ese arreglo quitiplines que ideó la virtuosa Modesta Bor. El jurado simplemente quedó impactado.

Una canción más

La otra canción a la que haré referencia es más reciente y es de una de mias cantates favoritos el gran Fito Páez, y de ahí el nombre de mi perrito. Es una canción que tiene mucha fuerza y me permite conectarme con diferentes tipos de emociones, la melancolía, la impotencia y la gallardía de ser capaz de afrontar las dificultades y lanzarse a conquistar el mundo. La frase. "Quién dijo que todo está perdido, yo vengo a ofrecer mi corazón" me conecta con la esperanza, con esa fuerza interna que emana decidida sin que sepamos de donde exactamente. Yo creo que representa a muchos de nosotros que asumimos en rol de hacer la diferencia, de tomar las riendas y hacer algo por el país, por el futuro, por un mejor mundo. Y en eso me centro cuando trabajo, cuando doy mis conferencias, cuando los invito a conservar el ambiente, aunque parezca que estoy labrando en tierra infértil sigo hacia adelante, ofreciendo lo mejor de mi para que todo fluya, para que avancemos hacia el progreso. Lo hago como sé que muchos de ustedes lo hacen con sus sonrisas, sus miradas, sus cariños, sus palabras, sus canciones y sus buenas acciones que van aportando para que cada día vayamos en construyendo un futuro mejor.

Speaking of songs and music for me, especially when selecting one for any activity, and even calling it a favorite is something enough. Because apart from the fact that my preference is quite varied, my life has been mainly linked to music in one way or another. Just as possibly many of yours are.

Because I've met people who don't like chocolate. In fact, until recently and I was one, but who doesn't like music, I haven't come across any yet. I consider that music, like coffee and food, are meeting points that make the environment relate to each other. Even if we don't take it internally too because music also accompanies us to meditate and helps us to be at peace and calm. So we all have a large bank of songs, and for those of us who sing perhaps a wide repertoire, although in my case it is not entirely true. What is a fact is that we can adapt music to the situations we are experiencing, depending on time, space, company, and emotions. Even if we want to connect with a memory or an emotion, we can do it through music.

For me, selecting some preferred songs is quite complicated, especially if I consider that I have been singing since I was a child and although I do not belong to any group now, I have been a chorister for much of my life. It's been a long time since I sang in choirs and I only sing at this Talent Show and for myself. To balance my chakras from time to time.

However, since they ask us to name a few, I am going to take the risk of selecting some songs that, due to their strength and history, have marked my life in some way. Actually, there have been many. You could highlight, for example, the first choral song I sang as a child or the first time I had a choral test and almost fainted because I messed up. Or also the first time I was moved when I sang and I felt that the voice came from the soul. Another option would be to mention how exciting it is to hear or sing the national anthem outside the country, or the anthem of the Central University of Venezuela in an embassy. Or also sing bonuses, something that I simply love, remembering to sing with friends who are no longer there or with my father.

Recently, I took an intelligence test and my first intelligence was musical, at that moment I understood some things that happen to me.
There are many songs that I could mention, the ones I sing on Tuesdays for example: (1) How beautiful, (2) It is so hard for me to forget you, (3) Love again, (4) Half alive, (5) I saw you and many others, which I have shared throughout these four years of the program. I hope that this selection, despite the strangeness, I hope it will be to the liking of some.

In this case there will be two because they were interpreted at the same time. It was quite an intense job, we worked hard to be able to stand there in front of a Jury, in a cold room and they immutable, checking tuning from time to time. It is a moment that I always remember because with that I connect with my courage, because I say to myself, "Gea" if you were able to do that you can do anything. So I think this experience contributed to my development as a person and as a professional. When the international part ended, we went on to interpret Fulía de Cumaná and there we let go, I remember that a smile came over me and we began to move to the rhythm of that quitline arrangement that the virtuous Modesta Bor devised. The jury was simply shocked.

The other song that I will refer to is more recent and is by one of my favorite singers, the great Fito Páez, hence the name of my puppy. It is a song that has a lot of strength and allows me to connect with different types of emotions, melancholy, impotence, and the gallantry of being able to face difficulties and launch to conquer the world. The phrase. "Who said that everything is lost, I come to offer my heart" connects me with hope, with that internal force that emanates determined without us knowing where exactly. I think it represents many of us who assume the role of making a difference, of taking the reins and doing something for the country, for the future, and for a better world. And that is what I focus on when I work, when I give my lectures, when I invite you to conserve the environment, although it seems that I am working on infertile land, I continue forward, offering the best of me so that everything flows, so that we advance towards progress. I do it as I know that many of you do it with your smiles, your looks, your love, your words, your songs, and your good deeds that you contribute so that every day we build a better future.
