Phobias, Pet Peeves, and Mental Health: A Balanced Approach

in Hive Naija4 months ago

Both men and women experience phobia, either the mild or the severe type. Even though I understand that some of my fears are not logical, I try to avoid those things I am afraid of. Some years ago, I experienced aerophobia, which is the fear of flying on a plane, and so, I didn't mind taking a very long road trip due to such a non-logical fear, but gradually I overcame the fear and had a great experience with my first flight trip.

However, the fear of seeing a ghost physically has been dealing with me for a long time, which is another reason why I stopped watching certain movies. You won't believe that, as big as I am, I fear coming out at night, and each time I have any reason to come out, maybe to pack clothes outside due to rain, fear will engross me, and any little object I see, I will feel that it's a ghost. Most times, it causes my heart to beat fast and turn my whole body system upside down. I think this particular phobia has drastically reduced since I started avoiding movies that put me in that mood.

About our mental health, it's crucial to guide our minds jealously. Mental health is essential to our overall health and quality of life, so I try not to keep some thoughts that could trouble my mind. I have realized that we can't fight over everything or control some things, but we can allow things to flow naturally without torturing our minds. When I experienced mind torture and overthinking in certain situations, I was totally down and couldn't be useful to myself. I have learned to overlook certain things, guide my sanity, filter what I want to hear, and also not allow myself to feel overwhelmed by anything.

Talking about pet peeves, we are all humans with imperfections; however, there are some things that I personally find annoying.Everyone has a list of things others do that get them annoyed in most cases, and likewise, they too have their own habit that annoys others. Really, I would love someone to tell me some of my habits that annoy him, or perhaps he finds them disgusting. But then take a look at mine below 👇

I am the type that hates to see a trace of soap suds on the wall of the bathroom. Like, must you splash soap everywhere while bathing? Why not bathe gently or use a small bowl to pour water on your body? Okay, even if you don't like using a smaller bowl, after splashing soap suds everywhere, do well to use water to clean it up. Really, if I had my way, I wouldn't be using the bathroom with anyone. It's just so annoying that people can't check where they bathe and keep it clean for the next person to enter. This experience was worst when I lived in a school hostel. I hate to remember those experiences because it's simply annoying and difficult to control adults behavior.

My second pet peeve is having people who jam talk. It's difficult to have a smooth conversation with this kind of person. Unfortunately, I have two of my friends who talk too much and sometimes reveal people's secrets due to their talkative nature. The most annoying part is that they don't even have a listening ear. They just talk and talk without even taking a breath to hear my own view. Funny enough, they talk irrelevant things most of the time. Why not calm down, process the information you received, and give quality feedback? You wouldn't die if you didn't talk, lol, or if you kept quiet to think before talking; it's just annoying personally. There should be a limit to everything. When you over talk, sometimes you may end up saying words that would lead to regret. Unfortunately, spoken words cannot be retrieved.

Then, if you want to eat or drink water, please, those percussions from your mouth or the unnecessary sound from your throat are uncalled for. That's kind of annoying, those irrelevant sounds because you are drinking ordinary water? You can simply drink water gently without opening the whole of your throat to make noise and chew your food in peace without those gaw gaw, chaw chaw, lolz. These are few of my pet peeves.

😂 😂
You have finished these people kpatakpata
I'm still yet to figure out the logic behind it. Does the food get sweeter when it's eaten that way or what? Make it make sense! I think this is a general pet peeve.

Haha 😆😆😂😂
LMAO 🤣😂
I am yet to figure out why it's so, but it personally annoys me
Perhaps, it annoys others watching me eat? Nay...I am a gentle eater, hahaha 😂

Nay...I am a gentle eater, hahaha 😂

Nwanyi Amelika indeed😅

Hahaa it is that chaw chaw for me, so damn irritating to my ears. Leaving a splash of soap inside the bathroom can be very annoying also, it tells a lot about the person's hygiene and cares about the next person.

Amazing that you are getting over your phobias !LUV

Hahaha, it's damn irritating, lolz and many people does that... really annoying, lolz
Exactly, the hygiene aspect..it's not even a big deal but some people don't just care
My fear, God is helping nkem 😌
Thanks for visiting, funshee ❤️

Hahaha God is definitely helping us !lol 😅

Mental health is key to our overall health indeed which must be guided jealously.
Your pet-peeves of soap suds is exactly like that of my wife and I think "most" women generally.

Thanks so much for sharing this with us, a great post indeed. Weldone ma.

I think women pay much attention to details than men , haha, that's why ur wife too and many more women have this common pet peeves 🤗

I appreciate your nice feedback
Thanks for reading ♥️

Exactly, women are interested in details and pay more attention to it compared to we men.

You are most welcomed🤗

Ahhh, very difficult, we must learn to control our speech,

I am the type that hates to see a trace of soap suds on the wall of the bathroom. Like, must you splash soap everywhere while bathing? Why not bathe gently or use a small bowl to pour water on your body?

And I also share this common trait, I hate it very badly

Good to know that we share common pet peeves.... thanks for visiting brother Mike in Christ 🤗

Nkem oo 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 which one is gaw gaw...chaw chaw.. oh my God! I didn't know when I laughed so hard. I have been laughing small small while reading your post because I so much can relate to some of them especially being afraid to step out at night until I got to the last part. Like, I hate that sound when someone is drinking water or eating. Like, I am so easily irritated.

Omo. I have to tell my own now. I am cooking up my post on this prompt
But Nkem, this is so funny 😁 😂

Haha 😆😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am happy to know that you laughed out loud

Even me that wrote it, I was just laughing so hard to that word.. maybe I would have said, chow chow chow🤣😂😂😂
Go and cook ur own post, we are waiting
Lol

Facing a ghost must be a interesting thing. You must courage to face it.

I am the type that hates to see a trace of soap suds on the wall of the bathroom.

I also don't like it and nobody I know who have the habit.

Taking too much is not good and it revel the secret of others. That kind of people bring unnecessary danger for us.

Oh no 😍, how can facing a ghost 👻 be interesting, hahaha 😂
And yes, keep talkatives might be dangerous

That reminds me when I was much younger and haven't known my heritage in Christ Jesus, I feared a lot especially when someone dies or watching a horrible movie. But thank God now no matter the night I navigate to where I am going.

Mental health is good to be taken care of very well. Thanks for sharing.

Wow...this is true, having God in you makes us brave and conquering this kind of fear becomes possible
Mental health is important and not to be overlooked

When it comes to phobia, mine is height. I don't like walking in bridges in such a way that I would down to the water passing underneath. It's a risky venture to me.

You can simply drink water gently without opening the whole of your throat to make noise and chew your food in peace without those gaw gaw, chaw chaw, lolz.

I laughed so hard reading this. It's amazing how you put that sound down in writing.

On a serious note, I don't like those sounds either.

Walking in bridges can be so scary and really a risky adventure
Hahaha, don't mind me..I was only trying to express myself with those words, 😂

For the last one it's as if you were saying my mind , I don't like those silly sounds, especially when I'm eating with the person, I'm very sensitive to things while eating, I totally hate it when I see someone spitting near me, or burping while I'm eating, I even lose my appetite at this point

Your pet peeves especially two and three got me laughing, it's annoying though to have people who just want to talk and talk and not provide a listening ear.

#dreemerforlife

Hahaha 😂🤣
No mercy 😌😌🥺

😂🤣 WahaluurD ,😂

As regards to the mental health, fear is a total destroyer and most of the things we fear are only imaginary, they exist in our imaginations, we tend to allow them play out real and as a result, they tend to attack our mental health.
Thanks for the post!
