Skating is something I've been doing for the last monthish and its been a great way to get around, especially to campus and back. Its quick, convenient and surprisingly very cheap(to get started).
These 2 are mine, the small one is not the same as in the top picture, only the small one is electric. Ignore the laundry.
I bought a Boosted mini about a month ago. Great price and its been how I've gotten to classes the last week. It/s a lot faster than waiting for a bus, and it's a hell of a lot more fun. It's awesome for commuting. I've seen more people with boards around campus as well, as well as one-wheelers. Passing bikers on the way is fun, they just can't keep up. The road has a speed limit of 25, and I can hit up to 20. Its not too busy so I just have to let a few cars pass me on the 1.5ish miles that I have to skate.

Going at these high speeds, safety is important. It's why I always wear a helmet, and usually pads as well. One small slip up and you can be a goner. Its a fun hobby which can also be very useful for getting around.
I might get a better board in the future, but for now, this small board is serving me very well.
