An Animal Crossing Poem

I wait to wish upon a star
one I once saw, a brilliant stream
as it rushed across the sky
I pressed the buttons I thought would reap

crystals on the beach at dawn
makings of a magic wand
outfit changes with a swish
if only I had made that wish.

My daughter says its no big deal
it's easy to send wishes high
I have not found that to be true
each night I see a starlit sky

and so I wander on my beach
or sit on my garden bench
hoping again to see that streak
and make a wish upon a wish.
