SPIRITUAL FOOD 4 THOUGHT : JUST AGING OR ACTUALLY MATURING?

It is a lot easier to age than it is to mature.

Using King Ahab's actions in 1 Kings 21:4 as a foundation, in this video I discuss some of the difference between maturing and just growing older. With a practical consideration for not only our own walks but also our parenting, I think it's some worthwhile food for thought.

Very good message @papa-pepper. In the brief time I have "in here" this afternoon, I was browsing through the Christian Fellowship community and this post stood out to me, so I came to look into it. Glad I did!

As one of the "hoary-headed" ones you mention, I am familiar with this passage of God's Word. I had not thought of exactly this application of it, however, as what we see in this passage is the follow-up actions of Jezebel, after what you highlight for us. Leading to God's condemnation of her and Ahab both (while He doesn't miss anything, a very sobering lesson in God's sovereignty, that He allows Naboth to be killed ...).

Our maturing, in walking through this world, with our Lord, is a deep subject. The father of a "quiver full" of children, I have often said my Heavenly Father has taught me more about who He is through my children, than by any other means. If we have "eyes to see" and "ears to hear" there is a lot that we can learn about ourselves in watching our children grow up and mature before us ...

God bless you, as you faithfully serve with your wife, as a role model for your children of who their Heavenly Father is and what they need to face about themselves in submitting and surrendering to the Truth.

My kids are older. Never seem to actually listen to what I say, however, I often see that they act the way I do. I am proud of them.

The world is facing a spiritual crisis. The exact nature of every problem has a spiritual solution. The spiritual message is: Surrender to win. " Take my will and my life and show me how to live" The cultural message is " Never surrender, we control every aspect of our lives"

Aging or Maturing? I word I think of is wisdom. Our elders used to be wise. They taught the young and were well respected. Without wise teachers students( children) will never mature..

Sounds like you're a great Dad

Wow, thanks much for that incredible comment. You've said a lot there, and thanks for the compliment. I am working towards that goal daily.

Thanks for sharing. I love how you describe Ahab as an unstable little child. That's very accurate and pretty much sums up his entire reign.

I'm also impressed that you're reading through the whole Bible in a year with your kids. That is a great blessing you are giving them! God bless friend.

Thank you so much for that comment. Of all that I can provide for my children here, that's going to be the most important, and actual understanding of God their Creator, and the Savior. Thanks again!!!
