Australian seductress, Desert Rose!

Good evening, friends! This is kind of a cool thing for me. I’m here to make a photography post. I’m not turning many of these out lately since the quarantine. A few virtual/distance shoots, but generally, I’ve been finding new ways to share are and blog. I did meet up with @nickcdavis for an EUC/bike ride through Northeast, and although that’s something we do for fun, I think we’re both trying to turn it in to a regular documentary/VLOG thing. Tonight, though, sitting down to edit was nice. Familiar.

Naturally, other than quarantine shoots through Zoom with my Frankenstein projector set up, I haven’t been booking much photography. The photos I’m sharing tonight are from last fall. October of 2019. A simpler time, for sure. I’d just gotten back from New Zealand and Australia and I was settling in to some sense of normalcy. I’d received a DM on Instagram from a beautiful Aussie burlesque dancer named Desert Rose. She was actually in Minneapolis for the annual Minneapolis Burlesque Fest.

Too wild of a coincidence, and she was writing to see if I’d be available for a private dark pinup session. Shooting in Minneapolis is such a pleasure for me. I hate traveling. Sometimes seeing @joythewanderer and @anomadsoul’s tireless treks across the world in the back of a van gives me PTSD from the last decade of nonstop jet setting I’ve had to do for my job. This Australian beauty was coming to me! I agreed and on short notice, we set a date and knocked this one out of the park.

These are the final images from our shoot together. Very close to my heart because they were shot in my home, and we got to make a mess with cake, pastries, fruit and icing. I some how missed that I owed her one last set, so with a polite nudge, I dove back in to the archives to finish this shoot up. Patient and beautiful. The very best you can ask for. It felt great to share some new photography here on Hive. Thanks for following, both the pretty pinup ladies, and the VLOG.
