Recalling the fantasy!

What’s up, Hive?! One of my last days at @caffetto for a week and a half. I leave for LA on Thursday, so rather than sitting here editing photos, I’ll be on the road making new ones. This is assuming of course, the trip even happens. I made it to a COVID clinic for a test during the afternoon and I’ll have the results by the time I leave. My brother […as in my real sibling], @customnature is meeting me in LA for a few days. He’ll be picking up a sculpture from Jordu Schell and finally meeting my longtime friend and automata creator, @thomaskuntzart. Should be a lot of fun!

Until the new photography happens this week, I’m still coming back to old shoots and finding new edits from the HD’s that’ve collected dust. This time, going way back to 2014 shooting with a prominent pinup model in Los Angeles. Together, our careers really broke out and though our collaborations were short lived, this particular shoot was the pinnacle of our creativity. We worked with a brilliant hair, make-up, styling and set design artist and created something so distinct and unique, it was unrecognizable from our previous pinup work.

When I arrived at the shoot location, I genuinely thought I’d missed something, like the model had been replaced with someone because of a scheduling emergency. Even looking at these images now, it’s hard to believe what we accomplished with hair, make-up, the proper wardrobe and specific set and lighting considerations. It was likes something out of a fantasy book or faerie tale. I remember the day this shoot took place, I only had a few hours before my flight out of LA, and distinctly recall wishing there was more time. I could have shot for hours.

Memory lane with these recent Hive posts has actually been a lot of phone. I think about what this’ll be like when I’m old, or if I find myself needing to be in bed for a while. The blockchain journal that I’ve been keeping six years. It also grounds me with how fortunate I am to have this career and life, especially just days before I travel back to Los Angeles, where it all began. I’ll be sharing a lot from LA, San Diego and Vegas over the next 10 days or so. It’s going to be a fun trip. Fingers crossed. Have a great night Hive family.
