@crosheille
Does the sun affect your mood? It sure affects mine.
I literally check the weather throughout the week to find out how each day will go.
βWhat? She determines if her day will be good or bad based on the weather?β
Well something to that effect.
On the days it is cloudy and/or rainy it is much harder to get out of bed.
Itβs like the sun is my true alarm and alerts me saying
hey Iβm up now so itβs your turn to do the same.
When I donβt see it (or feel it warming up my face) my body tells me to keep snoozing. Especially if the weather is cooler outside it makes me want to cuddle my blankets a little longer.
I am not a cold weather person.
Did you know that researchers found more mental health distress in people during seasons with less sun exposure? Contrary to that days with plenty of sunshine were associated with better mental health. Sun exposure is known to help keep you calm, positive and focused.
The availability of sunshine has a huge impact on mood. We can call it a mood enhancer because it just makes people feel good and it gives us a boost of energy. It even gives some a sense of excitement!
Sunlight increases the levels of serotonin in the brain, which is associated with improved mood.
Makes sense why serotonin levels are highest in the Summer months.
Guess what? The amount of sun exposure you get in a day could also determine how well you sleep that night. The sun also affects how much melatonin our brain produces which is what tells our brains it is time to sleep.
If you are one that has trouble getting to sleep at night maybe getting more sun during the day could help you rest better. π
I have noticed the availability of sunshine affects not only me but my entire family.
My husband tells me he struggles to get going and motivated when itβs cloudy outside. He tends to get sleepy around lunchtime if thereβs no sunshine. Without those rays his days are longer at work.
My kiddos drag around the house and I have to help motivate them to get their school work and chores done. They automatically think if itβs a gloomy day we will have the day off to rest. π€£
You can imagine me, already struggling myself to face the day, having to muster up extra strength to keep the household accountable.
I canβt say I feel depressed when itβs cloudy but I do feel a sense of slack and sadness.
It also seems as if the day moves in slow motion.
Do you ever feel that way?
The days seem so much longer and tiresome when the clouds dominate the sky.
Sometimes the clouds hover like this for full weeks at a time. As a photographer itβs hard because I greatly rely on that natural sunlight to capture my best photos.
Iβd choose natural light over using the camera flash in a heartbeat. Photos tend to come out so much better and are easier to edit when taken in natural light.
When the sun doesnβt come out to visit I have to realign my posting schedule (according to topics) and hold off on doing the ones where I feature my photos.
Having quality photos is one of my top priorities when creating a post. They set the tone of my writing and help draw the reader in. Having a visual representation of what Iβm trying to convey is of high importance as it gets your audience more interested and engaged in your topic.
Now you see why I rearrange my schedule if Iβm not able to get the photos I am seeking.
Biggest
One of the biggest reasons were left England, right here!
The year before we left (2007), we had a summer of nearly solid rain. It had just started warming up in spring, then the clouds came in and stayed. Instead of getting warmer, it just got colder and rained nearly every day for 3 months. It was August before we saw the sun again and that was for a few days before autumn was upon us. Then just as it was warming up for summer the following year we came here in time for winter. It was like having two solid years of winter! We were so relived when spring cane in September and it was like midsummer in England.

Oh goodness cold and rain for 3 months, I would have been so sad. I canβt imagine going through 2 years of winter. So glad you can enjoy the warmth and sunny weather now. π
Thanks for the tipu!
Hello, great post. Δ° love the sin, It give me Full Energy... Δ° feel so good , but when it's raining, o feel a Little sad... But it only sometimes, i think is because some days, o don't feel with good mood.
Thank you so much @tibaire! I see you feel the same way about the sun and rain as I do.
Thanks for sharing your input ~
It's funny, the opposite happens to me, why, I love cloudy days with little sun, it makes me feel better when there is cloudy weather. And when there's a lot of sun, it's only good when I'm at the beach or in rivers. Or even for my plants, but not for me hahaha
Wow that is different. Do you like cooler weather in general?
Yes, I love it. But it must be because I don't live in such a cold place. Here it's too warm and the few cold days I try to enjoy it as much as possible. I hate the heat hahaha
Haha!! My husband is the same way. He can only stand the sun and heat for a short time. π
Hahaha exactly, for a short time I can tolerate it, but in general the cold is better.
I love the sun but I also grew up in India and therefore have experienced fierce, merciless summers where the heat is oppressive. Here in Scotland the weather changes very quickly and a cloudy sky can clear in the space of minutes. Also - and the clocks have just gone back this morning - the hours of daylight are looooooooooong (not dark until well after 10pm in high summer) and the quality of light is utterly delicious - soft and golden.
I love sunny days and all the positivity associated with them, but when it comes to the extremes, I'd take cold over heat - can always add more layers but there are only so many you can take off :D.
Wishing you sunshine and more sunshine.............and more sunshine!
I can definitely understand why you would feel that way after experiencing merciless Summers.
Haha my husband says the same thing, heβd rather be too cold than hot...
π very true!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful photo. Iβm guessing itβs sunrise and not sunset?
:D
The photo's of the evening light acshullee lol, was the closest I had to what I was trying to say about that golden quality - I haven't really captured 'it' properly yet.

The sun changes your mood, it's true, where I live it's very cold, I tend to tuck myself in and drink coffee, then I try to get up and I do it but after a while I look as if they were telling you to rest hahaha. I suffer a lot from insomnia so I know that when the weather is nice and the sun is shining I will go out. Thank you. Greetings to you.π
I think I would do the same as you if I lived where it's very cold. I can only stand the cold for so long.
That's great that you get out and catch the sun when you can. I hope it helps you sleep better. π
