Am Joseph Sebastian, am 24 years old and am from Idukki in the state of Kerala,India.Idukki district is famous for its rich flora and fauna. It is home to the popular Eravikulam National Park and is characterized by the Anamudi mountain. Idukki is one of the greenest districts of Kerala. The people of Idukki have the greatest affection and love towards their forest and wildlife. Personally, as a nature lover am really fortunate enough to participate in this contest. Am new to hive and am learning things slowly and steadily. Special thanks to @pavanjr and @holisticmom for creating this challenge.

The things that I do for the environment to help mother nature

1. reuse and recycle

By reducing the consumption of things, our plantet has the greatest benefit. Am a person, who thinks very carefully about my purchases. Its best to avoid waste in the first place. Nowadays people are purchasing things not because of their needs but of their greed.

By reusing we are saving the natural resources and energy needed to manufacture new things. Not only that we can save money as well. Instead of throwing away bottles and bags, I use them for planting my plants.

2. cycling / walking

For short journeys i always prefer walking or cycling. Even the smallest effort can make the difference. Not only it will reduce the carbon footprint, it is beneficial for our health too.

3. planting flowering plants, which is pollinator friendly

By planting pollinator-friendly plants we are helping our struggling butterflies and bees. To grow a plant we dont need a garden, One can easily grow a plant in door steps or in balcony.

4.Growing veggies and fruits in my yard

freshly plucked fruits and veggies

If you have enough land, try growing veggies and fruits. Growing fresh organic food is a great way to reduce our carbon foot print. If you dont have the space, try buying fresh organic foods. Which not only improves your health but it is also a great way to support local farmers.

5. Inspiring others

The mentality of most people is that how a single person can make a big change. But the thing is that all the big things that happened in this world is because of a small initiative. I always tried to share my love of the natural world with people around me.

It may sound silly but Sometimes, i made my friends to plant my fruit plants in my yard and i even named those plants after my friends. So whenever they come to my house the first thing they ask me will be about that plant.

Encouraging others to see the value and beauty of nature and its wildlife may be the most important way to help save it.

6. using organic fertilizers instead of chemical ones in my garden.

Cut down on your use of herbicides and pesticides. These chemicals kill butterflies, moths and other pollinating insects, such as ladybirds, beetles and spiders – the natural enemies of your garden pests. Instead use organic ones. The main things that am using in my garden for the better growth of my plants are eggshells, firewood ash, coffee grounds, dead leaves, bone meal powder etc.

7. Not buying single use plastics

nobeachplastic_1618847834136966.jpg

I always pop a reusable bottle in my bag whenever i go out somewhere. Make this a habit and cut your weekly bottle buying altogether, stopping bottles ending up in landfills and oceans.Small changes can make big difference.

Nowadays everyone is busy chasing money. No one has time to even think about our mother nature. She provided us with everthing but in return all we are doing is destroying her. We should conserve our mother nature not for her but for our future generation. We dont have to do things that is too risky or dangerous to save our nature,by doing simple things like the ones that i have discussed in this post we can reduce the damage that is happening to our mother nature right now.
Always try to enjoy the things offered by our mother nature.

hi @farmlife, I really liked your post and another thing you can do with glass bottles is to make glasses and mosaics, I assure you that if you teach your friends to make glasses and mosaics they will thank you, I thank you for what you do for the bees that are currently in danger of extinction, I do not know if any species of butterfly is but also thank you for what you do for them. good post and congratulations.

Sure, i will definitely try to make glasses from bottles. Currently am working on a glass bottle terrarium . Thank you for your kind words and support

Without going to your house and being invited to plant in your garden, reading your post inspires me to want to do so. In the past I planted many trees and reading you made me remember that stage of my life, unfortunately nowadays I can't do it because I live in the city, my garden is concrete and asphalt.
I congratulate you for your thoughts and actions, I wish many would copy your example.
Hugs

Thank you so much. I know its really hard in city but you still can plant indoor plants in your room. Hope you can make it one day to my garden 🥰

Thanks for this lovely post! I got to know a little about you, I got to admire (a little jealously) the many types of fruits you are harvesting in your space, and I got to find a lot of common ground on our perspectives about the planet!

If I had to pick a favorite part of your post, it would be:

It may sound silly but Sometimes, i made my friends to plant my fruit plants in my yard and i even named those plants after my friends. So whenever they come to my house the first thing they ask me will be about that plant.

I am always excited to find ways to encourage friends and family to pay more attention to nature around them, as we all have room to keep moving forward in the quest for a healthy connection with our home, our Mother Earth. Your tactic of not only getting them to help with planting, but also naming the plants after them to keep them perpetually interested, is wonderful. Do you take cuttings for propagation? Perhaps you could make the game a little more exciting and start making them plants to take home, or to gift to their other friends/loved ones. "This is a cutting from my namesake _______ plant", they could say, and then they could help them plant the babies just like they learned when they helped you plant the one named after them!

Thanks again for a practical, uplifting, personal post. I really enjoyed reading this.

Thats a great idea,i will definitely try it. Thank you so much for spending time to read my post. In the coming days i am gonna share a post explaining about all the types of fruits in my space .

Me gusto mucho tu publicación y todo lo que estas haciendo excelente ejemplo.

I really liked your publication and everything you are doing, excellent example.
