The raspberry bush that I have now in my garden actually grows in a container. It already became so matured that a lot of suckers grow in all directions every season and it bears a lot of berries every year

The Container Garden...

My container garden is located on the top terrace where I grow all my vegetables... it is inevitable that I had to do container gardening since the backyard is full of slugs.. I hardly grow anything there except for conifer and other trees that grow as hedge so as to have privacy.

My container garden includes the following plants:
lettuces, all kinds of tomatoes, eggplants, zucchini, squash, okra, parsley, chives, onions, green beans, bitter melon, cukes, strawberries and raspberries.... and they all vary according to the season.

Let me talk about the Raspberry.....

I knew that I wanted a raspberry bush...so to be on the safe side, I made a raised bed constructed with 4 huge hollow blocks, put on a thick plastic sheet with base perforations so water could drain and then filled it with good soil.

Only at the 2nd year that the bush started to have the berries for the first time. Each year when the season ended, I cut the stalks so new ones could build the following year. This bush became so thick and branches grew so long that I had to cut them because they were covering the satellite dish.

The last harvest...

I was very happy with the harvest this year. I gathered them to garnish cakes and sweets I have made and also for smoothies we enjoyed . But this will be my last harvest, since we are moving to a newly constructed flat in the next weeks. Sad to say, I will miss this bush since it grew into a very matured plant.

The Suckers .....

The suckers grew everywhere around the raised bed and they could be replanted in a different pot and I am taking with me three of those and will replant them in my container garden in the new flat. I am sure, this will grow nice as well. We have a bigger balcony of 16.5 sqm compared to the present terrace of about 9 square meters.

This season, I didn´t grow any vegetable because of the stressful work in moving household items, but we are almost done and I am excited to be growing again in the next season. I am crossing my fingers that the container garden will be a success...

The raspberries look so luscious and yummy - I miss them in Asia. Do you dry the leaves for herbal tea?? How nice that you'll have such a bigger balcony in your new apartment! I see your garden EXPANDING!!! 😍 ☘️

Wish you an easy-smooth moving and Happy House!

Good luck sa new abode. Syempre magiging successful yung container garden,.

Looks delicious! I wish I could plant different berries too, the packed and imported ones are so expensive. 😬

So prolific!! Wish we could grow them also in the philippines
