Thursday when I got off work it was time to set up another rabbit cage. A couple friends and I bought three pairs of rabbits from a guy at work who's getting out of rabbits. I finally had time to mount mine up off the ground.

It's a bit crowded, so I may need to move or rearrange my rabbitry at some point to increase the ease of movement in there.

Friday I was off work (everyone say "yay!") and we dedicated the day to cleaning up the back yard. Lots of cool things got done. We kept a fire going all day burning scrap wood as we cleaned up. I think we burned eight or ten busted pallets and lots of old rotten wood. A friend from my men's group came over and helped move mulch to the garden after I spread about 60L of poop and 20L of pee in spaces that we harvested heavily from last year.

After a while, I set out to fix the printer, which had an abortion earlier this week when I tried to run a test print with a new type of filament. I didn't add anything for bed adhesion, so the nylon composite warped off the print bed, and I didn't realize that I had to retighten the nozzle, so filament oozed all out of the heat block.

With those issues resolved, it seems to be printing fine with the exception of some stringing. I'll set my retraction settings a bit better next time. I also tightened the belts on my X and Y axis so there's be a little better detail and responsiveness. Lots of tuning for this little printer, I can't wait to print something functional.

While cleaning up, I found none other than my dear friend turleytail growing on a log that I put in the small corn bed from last year. I harvested them and put them in the dehydrator and will clean them tomorrow before starting their decoction in everclear. Excellent timing, as I'm running low on my first batch. I think there'll be enough to share too. I haven't made medicine since the summer, it'll be good making a new batch 💚

Earlier today, I got my order of printer filament in too. Ten kilos of PLA+ filament in green. I'm hoping this can be used to make some money off of the printer and help out my community. I wonder what I can make out of it besides guns... This is gonna be a cool project.

Our community seed buy came in today too! Next weekend we'll be having a big meet to distribute the seeds. I'd like to have my beds prepped by then, but I don't know that I will. I want to add another bed or two and start planning the berry patch. I still haven't decided where to put it or how to set it up.

Tomorrow the plan is to go get chickens. We got a brooder set up and took inventory of what all we need, looks like we have the lamp, pine shavings, feeder, and a box for the chicks, so we just need a waterer, feed, and grit. Oh, and treats. All my animals get treats.

So it's past my bedtime now and I've got a big day ahead tomorrow! I'm gonna leave it at that short update and call it a night. Thanks for reading!

Love from Texas

We went to get em yesterday but they sold out. I'll pick up eight of em on Thursday morning. This week they had barred rocks, Rhode island reds, and Easter eggers, idk what types they'll have next. :)

We did get seeds though. Grass seed, chookie foraging mix seed, and some veg seed that we hadn't bought yet. I think we're all set for the year now.

I do love the barred rocks and RIR so much. Such gentle, stable birds. Adore them.

Oh fabulous! You've been short on seed since COVID or just stocking up?

Just stocking up. Getting ready for spring. We did a big seed buy with a few of us in our local budding liberty community here, so we just picked up some things that we didn't get in that group buy.

Got a work day coming up too where we're all gonna drive around to each other's places and help set up gardens. Composting, shoveling, digging, etc. The men's group had men and we're looking to network with these people, so this is a good way to establish a relationship with these other groups of similar mind.
